Looks like DOMs are looking at tracked returns and giving "forms" to sign to those opgs who for whatever reason have high numbers of tracked! Union rep not happy about this!

It's Royal mail giving the Dom's unrealistic targets too save money the only way you can save money in a delivery office is by increasing walk sizes and pretty sure most of us can't do much more like the straw that broke the camel's back type now.

Agree the jobs finished but we surely have ourselves too blame if only we could collectively in each office back each other rather than some people saying i'm alright today don't care about my colleague attitude.
doms have a habit off targeting individuals each day as opposed to a group.

Seems like this has been going on for years now.
I am new, only been on board since August. I like the job itself but have found that there is a lot of pressure put on the posties. It seems that those who've been there a while and have their regular rounds come in make sure their frame is prepped and get out as quick as they can, fair enough, people are waiting for their post etc. I, like all newbies are on different walks on a regular basis so don't know the best way to prep and bundle up. Managers definitely don't know how they are prepped, they will just say bundle up as the frame goes, I learnt early on that this is, more often than not, the best way to do the walk. I always come in earlier than my start time (I do book it for OT), I don't take my 40 min break otherwise I get out way later than is good and of course finish way later than I should.
I'm still learning. I get my head down and do my best. I won't take on something more than a whole walk. One of my colleagues (also new) took a whole walk (with van) and half a walk on top, she didn't get back in to the DO until around 7pm (crazy) and was exhausted. Just one look at the loaded York was enough to see that it was way too much. Sadly the managers will just let it go.
I'm sure they are under pressure too, reaching targets are all too often the main criteria for many places of work these days. Forget getting the job done to a high standard, just what looks good on paper. Stats, stats, stats!!!
When the going gets tough . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . RUN!!! Not really . . . . . . . sleeves up and get stuck in.

I've been there since June & I have just been put on my 2nd walk !
Day 1 a quick show on how to prep my mail & bundle it up. That was it !
Now surely I need more help with that. So the next day I get to work with someone else on the walk who hasn't time to show me or know the route very well. So I'm left on my own to work it out. (Which takes me ages)
Then we don't get out on time & then manager complains.
I mean what do they expect ?
I'm sure I'm entitled surely to some kind of training for a least 2/3 days

Training is a joke in this company. I know dozens of walks now and on all but a few it has been just kicked out the door on unknown streets with 'just do your best' as the only advice from management. I've also on occasion been pulled into the office and made to feel substandard for not completing a walk despite this.

RM managers are a great example of how to get the worst performance out of your staff in my opinion.

Yes! I was literally kicked out on my own after a few days of following a postman about. He told me he wouldnt bother training me properly because he wasn't paid for it. I've learned by being pulled into meetings with managers who tried to repremand me for various errors. To be fair when I protested I didn't know the proper procedure because no one told me, they would then coach me. Its not good for moral though to learn this way. You would have thought giving enough training so mistakes weren't made might be a better way, but no, not at Royal Mail. Most of the work place coaches are also complete jokes... when you go to ask them questions they mostly are busy or tell you to go and ask someone else. One of them exploded in rage at me and told me I should know f***ing know better by now, to stop f***ing wasting his time etc. Honestly I'm still shocked by the level of vitreol I received that day for asking a simple question about delivery procedure.
