Im going to guess it will be some sort of more extreme longs and shorts ( hour+ difference rather than 10-15 minutes )
The only thing I'd heard of the union's proposal was "Light and Heavy" or some variation of those words. My guess was Seasonal Variation but applied to a week. So, yes the return of long and shorts.
Maybe Saturdays can go back to being a 'significantly shorter attendance' day and that would solve that problem... help, I'm asphyxiating here and not even getting off on it.

Can't see all Saturdays being shorter. Friday night the CSS machines were releasing shitloads of mail, if you exclude the 1C, probably 90%+ was DSA. There are now 3 DSA products, D+2, D+3 and D+5. We've been told that the plan is for the majority of D+2 to be migrated over to D+3. D+2 and D+3 will certainly still be released for Saturday delivery. Not had any final confirmation about D+5.

Will be shorter if only first class goes out on Saturday.

D+2 and D+3 will still be released for Saturday delivery, only D+5 won't be released (think of D+5 as being like the old MS3). We've not yet been given a new date for any changes so as it currently stands any D+5 that hits the 5 day limit on a Saturday night will be released.
Even when any changes are made, if there's any 1C for a DP, EVERYTHING for that DP will be released no matter what the day.
RM need to concentrate on getting the scan data from packets in outward MCs factored into the DTS algorithm so that it'll release any mail for any DP that has got a packet. Don't know why data from flat sorting machines isn't already fed into the DTS algorithum.

I'll rephrase part of that for you, instead of "released for Saturday delivery" replace that with "released for sending to a delivery office on Saturday"
In theory if there's something 1c then the rest for the same address should also be delivered but who knows if that will happen as obviously it would need to be prepped.
Oh yeah SP just thought, you'll know the answer, under the new system if DSA is released due to there being a 1c item will it come in the "1c" tray and equally if it's released due to it's time being up does it come in a separate tray ?

What don't you understand sp from the following
No matter what is sent on a Saturday, delivery will only take out specials, tracked and 1c.
Any 2C or DSA released by the DTS on a Friday night is due for delivery, it's sequenced with the 1C and goes in the same boxes as the 1C. We don't care if a DO fails to deliver it. Not every DO is going to do the same, some will deliver it, some won't. Some of the RODs might insist on all DOs in their area delivering it, some won't.
Any D+2 and D+3 DSA that has hit the time limit for its product will be released.
There are NO changes being made for the time being, I can't see them making any changes now till after Xmas.
Have you got it IN WRITING, signed by someone higher up than an manager in either a MC or a DO that you won't be delivering any 2C on a Saturday?

Ah that's just answered the question I asked a couple of posts up, yes we were told that if there's anything else available for an address receiving something on the parcel+1c days then it should be delivered so if the DSA comes in the same tray as the 1c letter then it should be delivered also as you'll obviously have prepped it in the fitting, I don't know if the other trays of non 1c will get prepped or what but if they do then if there's a parcel it should get delivered with it along with the d2ds etc.

Manual letters and flats are sorted in separate 1C and 2C frames both at the outward MC for sending to the inward MC and for sending from the inward MC to the DOs. I suspect that will be permanent, if an office is in the s**t and needs to fail something then they'll be able to fail the 2C manual letters and flats. At DOs, whether the 2C manual letters and flats just sit in the boxes or get sorted on the IPS will probably vary from DO to DO unless an instruction comes down from the RODs.

You started this back and forth by saying you can’t see all Saturdays being shorter and then went on to explain because of the mail being sent to the DO on the Friday
But as said your point is only relevant if that mail NEEDS to and IS be delivered on the Saturday - don’t matter if it’s sent to the DO or not
So that’s where the shorter Saturdays would come from
- the non 1st class delivery points being left to the Monday - even if that mail arrived in the DO on Saturday
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

It's all only proposals atm. I can't see there being any changes now in either MCs or DOs before the new year.
