Re: Your £300 Lump Sum
You know in court a lawyer often makes a statement which has to be stricken from the record - so Moya has mooted that non-strikers will be given the £300, that in itself may sway some waverers to vote NO and if there are enough persuaded it may affect the result of the ballot and the problem of paying non strikers goes away and if there is a strike they'll deal with that problem in the fullness of time............and it may be they'll bite the bullet and pay everyone which must have been budgeted for in any case.

Simple answer... we all get it or nobody gets it.
Or we stay on picket line...
Bring it on!

Bribing bastards and see you on the gate
Moya has f****d up
Now who looks a twat?
Cheered me up no end this. Was asked at work about the letter and it's meaning, I.e. if it was intended as an individually based payment now, instead of office based.
I replied it was how I read it, and I believed it would be illegal. Nice to have it confirmed.
Would this also not apply on the proposed office by office basis?

Unjustifiable discipline by a unionmandelsons_toenail wrote:Me personally, I will ensure that any member who chooses to work and take the £300 will not ever be represented by me ever again, and I hope the CWU has the balls to expel these people. They do not deserve the title "union member"
http://www.bis.gov.uk/assets/biscore/em ... -guide.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
In the past union members have been disciplined by their unions for working during a strike or other industrial action, but union members should be allowed to make up their own minds whether or not to take (or continue) industrial action.
The law makes union discipline unjustifiable in these circumstances. This helps ensure that individuals are free to decide for themselves whether or not to take or continue with industrial action.
What is meant by "union" discipline?
An individual will have been disciplined by a union if any of the following penalties are imposed on him:
• expulsion from the union or from any branch or section of it;
• payment of a sum of money (for example, as a fine) to the union, any branch or section of it, or to any other person;
• treatment of his union subscriptions, or any other payment he has made to the union or any branch or section of it, as unpaid or paid for a different purpose (eg to pay a fine);
• deprivation (even if only temporarily or in limited circumstances) of any benefits, services or facilities which would otherwise be available to him as a member.

Re: Your £300 Lump Sum
Fish would this unjustifiable discipline also apply to Royal Mail in respect of refusal of overtime following strike action. Is this not treating a striker different from staff who have crossed the picket line? Your thoughts.

IMO,i doubt if whether their is a postie in the country that doesn't know just how serious this dispute is.Any postie that value's himself at only £300 and comes in or votes no must surely know what the risks are if we lose.I hope therefore they are fully prepared to swallow the consequences.

They'll just blame the union for not doing enough/anything about it.
They certainly won't accept that they're to blame for their actions/inactions.

Overtime should be distributed via an aggregate system,that applies equally after a strike.Lincox wrote:Fish would this unjustifiable discipline also apply to Royal Mail in respect of refusal of overtime following strike action. If a member is refused overtime because they took lawful industrial action they should ask for this in writing and contact their rep and/or branch immediately.
