Burslem postal workers to strike again
Saturday 17 March 2007

Postal Workers at Burslem continue the fight to get Dave Condliffe reinstated. They are to strike again on 30, 31st March and 2nd April.

Members of Stoke Socialist Party were out on the streets of Hanley today (Saturday) building support. Over 200 people signed our petition calling for Dave Condliffe to be reinstated. Many people who signed the petition told us of the bullying management where they work. Postal workers from Burslem, Stoke, Longton, Kidsgrove and Leek (even one from Northampton!) also signed up along with many young people.

Eighty four people people bought a copy of this week's Socialist which has full coverage of the campaign on the back page and Â£30 was also raised for the Burslem postal workers hardship fund.

Good afternoon to you Postman,

Burslem D.O is fine, there are managers and casuals every where at our office, due to us not doing overtime so there are at least 20 walks aday being covered and managers are walking the streets at 16.30 most nights ( which is great for our morale ), sickness and leave on top of that you must get the picture now ( mayhem ).

We are on strike Friday 30th & Saturday 31st march, and again on monday 2nd April, Big Dave's appeal is on Tuesday 3rd, Fingers crossed he will return back to work.

Royal Mail haved tried everything to break morale, but it just make's us STRONGER,

I would like to thank everyone for there SUPPORT.

The postal staff at Burslem have a long tradition of standing together to support mistreated colleagues. Below is a photo of one of the first ever picket lines at our DO. This dispute followed the suspension and then sacking of Elijah Albert Smith.
Elijah's crimes were his failure to address his manager as Mr and to doff his cap when the manager walked past. The manager took offence to this and threw his dummy out.

I would like to thank everyone for the SUPPORT and Donation's that our branch ( CWU MIDLAND NO 7 BRANCH )are recieving for us at Burslem, so once again we are doing fine & thanks.

Hey Burslem Boys! I can confirm that the management are really pissed at my office. Their morale is definitely suffering because of the hours they have to spend walking the dark, mean streets of Burslem. Come to think of it the more they go down the happier I get. I think this is something I should be have been spreading at my office before now, my guys could do witha good laugh, especially at the expense of scabbing 'WEASELS'

I saw Big Dave this morning and had a chat. He seemed in good spirits. Then I saw a manager doing a walk. He didn't seem as happy

Although I have been following and fully support Burslem and everything they stand for, I have only just joined this site. What a fantastic place.

Has anyone heard about the latest ballot for industrial action? Since the last AGM everything seems to have gone quite. Its about time my office and others in the ST area got off their arses and on to a picket line to support Burslem, having collections and giving money is nice, but support is whats needed most.

It nice to see that, at least managers are consistently stupid across the patch. You might have Gio but we have Jon Good, a smarmy ex car salesman who couldn't find his own arse with both hands.

Anyway good luck lads, and hope to be joining you soon.
