I've now started going in just 15minutes early.

Just a quick question-and linkin thanks for the advice-people who are calling us suckers etc, what time do you go in? Do you work full time hours? Are you able to take a break, have a walk round, get yourself a coffee etc?

Because even coming in 15 minutes early I don't have time to do that. And I can't work over because I have to be back home to let my sister in from school.

Not having a go it's just I see a lot of full timers at my work saying to us part timers why come in early, I rarely see part timers having a break or waiting by the front for the missorts. I already struggle to throw out an unfamiliar round+D2D's+sky mags+lightbulbs in an hour and a half and even though it seems trivial, that 15mins lets me get out almost on time.

Not my problem I know but do any of you have managers who say "tell you what my friend, give yourself an hours overtime tomorrow and come in early and get everything prepped on time." No course you haven't and neither have I. If I say I'll need a hand prepping it tomorrow, im told yes sure we'll get someone to do that, but surprise surprise next day everyone is busy.

Now, lets look at this scenario. I come in on time, I'm the last one to leave, half an hour after everyone else. Every day I put for overtime. Every day I have to see my manager and tell him I'm not prepped in time, here's x number of missorts. Every day, I have to leave a few parcels which aren't for my walk. My manager starts getting suspicious, im not helped out, eventually i'll be sacked or be given jobs like staying in every day and collecting the trays. Not what I want. I worked damn hard to get a job, I applied to over 25 places and RM was the only one to place to 1) give me an interview and 2) give me a job. So i'm not going to risk losing my job for the sake of 15 mins.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

On another note i'm now getting in more OT because I no longer risk anything, I saw someone on here saying in 15 years he'd never doorstepped an item (including lightbulbs), thats the same for me now if no one is in I advise it. I'm not giving mgt any reason at all to sack me.

Oh how Royal Mail love people like you! :arrrghhh Sorry, do understand your problem sort of, but it must be an office problem so if you are doing 15 mins for nothing, what happens when you are off does he have to do 15 mins for nothing? The problem will not go away if it is not highlighted, surely you have a rep that can help!!

When RM are looking for savings there are no such things as swings and roundabouts if you are giving them 10mins at the start of your duty they will see that as time they can save. It is a big problem for reps when trying to explain that there really is no time to save just free gifts from some of the staff making life very difficult for those that want to work their proper hours. Life may have been easier once but times they are a changing!!

The facts! oh how I wish staff would read them and act, instead of just thinking it is not up to them let someone else do it!

I've got it down to such a fine art that I arrive at the very second I should start :Very Happy but although I'm one of the first that's due to start I can never get a parking space because of all those who are in early
