Don't think they should have different rules based on weather it's an amber or red warning....over 35 degrees could easily effect the Amber areas and some have delivery offices which are separated by only a few miles. Ashton-U-Lyne (Red), Glossop (Amber) for example from my neck of the woods. Tuesday is going to be hotter for those in Eastern areas.

"When temperatures reach the Met Office ‘Red level Warning’ temperature limit of 35C or 95F, all outdoor work will
stop at that point and everyone must be back at the Office"
...should apply for any postie in the country no matter what the severity of the warning they are under.

It's not just the peak temperature of the day. These idiots don't understand that starting your duty at ONLY 28 degrees is unheard of. The norm on a hot day you go out at 17/18 degrees with a steady climb upto 27/28. Finished and ready for a cool off. We are talking about excess heat from the moment you start.

I genuinely don't think a full duty in that sustained heat is advisable or even possible.

It's an embarrassment to both the business and the union that they think it is.

The CWU should be pressing for ALL deliveries AND collections to be suspended in the red warning areas

I've advised the members at my DO to cut off at 11am.

Ive told the COM that's what we are doing.

He tried to insist on it being 12 but I disagreed with him.

I'm worried what tomorrow's Delivery will bring but I'm even more worried about my Collection which starts at 14:10 and finishes about 17:45. Like, genuinely worried.

You can stop when you want if u feel it’s not safe. Ignore the noise the managers might make, we will have to look after our own health and safety as they won’t.
