Do you come in before your start time?

Post by shelanda »

Please please ask yourselves why are we all being harrassed to take out extra, why do they seem convinced that the time is there.........because, because of everyone that comes in early "to finish early", that runs, that cuts corners puts mail in the front of vans to save time uses their cars cos they don't want to wait for pick ups, that is why and if you can't see it and are still convinced they will not come back for more, and more month after month, then you are stark staring mad!!! For goodness sake wake up this is our lot now and we have to turn it around. If you are going in early cos you can't cope then there is a problem and that problem will never be seen until you start running out of time (that is the only running you should be doing). :arrrghhh Rant over :arrrghhh

Seems like most of our Polish brothers are heading home on account of the fact that they will now be better off in a struggling ex soviet satellite state :chuckle

Got 25 hr contracts at our office. The new starts are supposed to get their walks thrown off for them, but think it is difficult sometimes due to mail volumes and staffing levels etc.

I go in early do to fact me and partner dont have childcare and I used to have to get by certain time so my partner could go to work. Now tho my partner was forced to quit her job (as she lower earner) because my manager was sick of me cutting of on heavier days or ringin when my daughter was ill (as she only settled for me). Even tho my partner doesn't work I still go in early so I get done earlier and can spend more time with my daughter. I prefer the days of earlier start times instead of this flexibilty working hours.

Lat weeka twat at our place who I detest, slapped in a claim of accident at work cos he was rushing to unload a york and hurt his back. This week manager said if you get in early you are not insured so tuff titty. This morno a big FO poster 2 foot by 3 foot went honda wall saying get in early and you will be asked to sit in the mess room til actual start time. Why give free work. If you cant do the round, CUT OFF for crying out lewd and stop being a martyr!

THEY WILL NEVER BE GRATEFUL

I'm on a 25 hour contract. I have three drivers, one takes packets I can't manage to the first half of my walk, another does the second half, and the third takes my bags. Now...if I go in at the time I was told to these three would have left well before I'd even looked at my packet bag or started to pack my bags. I go in early so I can catch these three, and everybody is happy. You could say I go in early, or you could say I have just altered my start (and finish) time. If I go over 5 hours I claim the overtime. I certainly don't work for free.

Punk wrote:We've got a serious problem with this at my office, we have full time staff arriving up to an hour before duty start time and part timers arriving anything up to 2 hours before. :no no

A few of us are actively trying to persuade them that its part of the reason why our office has been slashed to the bone over the last 5 years and asking them not to do it. The usual reply is either "its none of your effin business" or else they'll agree in principle and still keep coming in early.

We've even asked the glorious management about insurance policy with people being in the building when they aint supposed to be and all we got was "well, its up to them really, i guess they just want to finnish earlier." In other words, f off, its saving me a pile of docket and contributing to my bonus.

Not content with doing themselves out of overtime, it also impacts on those of us that start at the correct time as when i invariably have to book docket i get "when so and so does that job they're always back in time" when they know full well that so and so starts an hour before they should.

Makes me MAD :mad

2 Hours b4 start time????????? 40 hours a month FREE work. Thats £3840 quids worth a year they are giving up so the two top to zzers can earn 3 million a year

Give em a messsage from me STOP BEING A BUNCH OF C*/TS :arrrghhh

I come in half an hour early. On a different round so it normally takes 2 hours to throw in. If I work to my time and came in from when I get paid, all I'd get is other staff moaning about receiving their missorted parcels/redirections as they are about to leave the office.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Just like to add it's the very same staff telling me to take my break in the office and not to come in early and work for free, who then moan when they get a parcel/missort once they've bagged up. Can't win.

So what! Just tell them to do there job properly and cut off or book docket but dont give up 2.5 hours of your life a week for free to please others thats mad? Cause if you want to give £25 away then please give it to me cause at least i will say thankyou unlike our employer FFS.

Understand what your saying but already i'm often the last one out of the office (and i'm not a slow worker) and I hate it, especially because I have other things to do in the afternoon.

There is a big problem though in my office, taken me almost a year to realise but things aren't rosy (yeah no sh1t sherlock etc. You've got full timers throwing out 45 minutes before they can leave the office while part timers sometimes haven't even moved onto flats/parcels. You've got cover part timers coming in to throw in their round, only to be told to do another round cos X/Y/Z doesn't know it. Conveniently that's when all the letters are thrown in for the original round.

I probably do about an hour a week free, still too much I know but Monday i'll finish half hour early (nothing gained/lost), Tuesday hour and a quarter early (45mins gained), then that's slowly eaten into Wednesday Thursday Friday. Manager is introducing a new form though where you write out what hours you were paid and what hours you actually worked, so i'll end up getting paid for the hours I do now. I hope :Boo hoo!
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Lets do some maths

£8.60 per hour x 2.5 hours a weeek if you get in 30 mins ealry a week. This equals £21.50 per week of FREE work you give RM

or

£86 per month of FREE work

or

£1032.00 Per year of FREE work YOU ARE GIVING AWAY.

130,000 posties in the UK so the total if 50,000 get in early by 30 mins a day? OVER 50 GRAND OF BUCK SHEE WORK So Bald bloke can have his £3 million a year. You are lining his pocket and he's laughing at you all the way to the bank. NICE

THIS MEANS YOUR LAST PAY RISE AND SHARES YOU ARE GIVING BACK EVERY YEAR

As a thank you, what will you expect in return????????

Please stop being a sucker and answer this please
