How the CWU agreed to this i dont know. Plenty of whole deliveries get left in daily at ours.I feel the national targets are unachievable. Individually there may be a few offices with a chance. But if only a couple of posties at them dont want/cant do extra to clear this could clearly lead to harrasment from others who may have more achievable duties.Unless ive missed something, this seems a toxic bit of bribary, doomed to failiure.

Perhaps they'll just fudge the figures pretend the targets been met and pay the bonus in the hope OFCOM and the general public fall for it? If not I can't see the point of a bonus scheme which seems unachievable, particularly the national one which is completely beyond your average postie's etc control.
Ofcom dont need to fall for anything, if they were serious about the USO it would have been dealt with by now. When was this Ofcom 'investigation' supposed to end anyway?

Its all about diffusing the public backlash over xmas, after that they are out of the headlines again to quietly carry on regardless

There wasn’t any real public backlash when we were on strike last Christmas Eve. I think people have more important things to worry about nowadays to be honest and don’t really care about postal delays like they once did. It is almost becoming expected.

When I started delivering to one new area, a lady said to me "we used to have a great postman, a lovely lad who really looked after us and it's been all over the place since he went. I saw him once and he said they made him move. It's rubbish." I told her to make a written complaint to RM and write her MP. Her response was "What's the point?" I didn't have an answer for that.

Details of the quality of service incentive scheme this Christmas

Christmas is the most important time of the year for Royal Mail. It is the time when our customers rely on us most.

This is why last week we announced a new, one-off discretionary peak quality of service incentive scheme for operational employees to earn up to an additional £500 each. As promised, we are now pleased to be able to share the details of the scheme and eligibility criteria.

What is the scheme about?

The incentive is designed to deliver great quality of service over the peak period of 2023 and will reward units that go above and beyond for our customers.

This one-off discretionary incentive scheme is in addition to any existing Christmas supplements and payments so is a real opportunity to increase your earnings at the same time as delivering a great peak performance.

HOW WILL IT WORK?

Each operational unit across the business will work towards a weekly target designed to improve quality of service every week from 13 November up to and including 23 December 2023

98% USO delivery point coverage
Either 93% or 95% Combined tracked products (T24/T48) (depending on which week of the campaign it is)

The incentive will work on an ‘accumulator’ basis, meaning each week your team has another opportunity to hit the target and bank the incentive payment for that week. Working together as a team will be vital to success. These payments can add up to £500 across the course of the incentive period.

The weekly payments will be weighted differently depending on your operational function, but as an example, this table shows how it will work in Delivery:

*Engineering teams aligned to a Mail Centre or Parcel Hub will be measured against the Mail Centre catchment area performance, as will Mail Centre LA and Production Control so should select the Processing links above. Central Engineering and other support teams not attached to a unit will be measured against the national performance (e.g. the National revisions team) and should select the National Linehaul links above.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE PAYMENT?

All frontline and support operational colleagues up to level 6 who work in the operations function under the Chief Operating Officer:
Delivery
Processing including Collections and Local Distribution
National Linehaul, Parcel Hubs and Network Hubs

Engineering will be aligned to their Mail Centre, parent unit or national performance. In addition, Fleet, International and Parcelforce have their own variation of the incentive which is based on slightly different performance measures.
Let’s work together to deliver a brilliant Christmas for our customers.
Grant McPherson

Based on that for MCs both the MC itself and all DOs the MC covers have to hit the target for MC staff to get the bonus. That gives us no incentive to hit the target in the MC as it's going to be impossible for us to get a single penny out of this scheme. Some mail streams are forecast to be a fair bit over our maximum capacity which will also make it impossible for us to get a single penny out of this scheme. Apart from a handful of DOs, basically everyone is going to get f**k all

Living in cloud cuckoo land. Make the USO 50% tracks 70% and we may be in with a chance.

So £25 a week that’s our incentive :chuckle wow that’s motivated me to work in the dark when I’m cold and tired and risk being sick during the Xmas period

Or…

I could just spend more time talking to my customers and try every house on the street when delivering parcels and make sure I take my full break entitlement and book an extra 30min every day that way I’ll get more money on overtime and I’ll probably get more Xmas tips from the customers that I talk to

I think I’ll go with option 2 please

If the management can rinse this company for all it’s worth why shouldn’t the workers just do the same??? I mean they act like that’s what we do anyway so why not live up to their opinions of us??

ABSOLUTE JOKE THIS IS!!!! ABSOLUTE JOKE!

Royal Mail could not care less about quality of service. QOS went down the drain 3 years ago.

You have made our jobs ridiculously huge, impossible to do even on light-medium days.....ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE to do at XMAS - do you really think I am going to be staying out an extra 1 to 2 hours each day to get a measly £500.

There is zero chance of meeting those targets - so what's the point. Probably because some absolute mugs in our offices will stay out expecting others to do the same - no chance. Most posties won't even bother.
