That's why postal workers deserve and get more respect than armed personnel. I rest my case.

Well I have been both and I have never been applauded in public wearing a postman's uniform, but when I came back from Bosnia through Stansted I was. Although in Ireland they threw some nasty things at me.

Both earn respect and both earn condemnation from different people, its like comparing apples and pears, Tories and Liebour, some people like both, some don't like any, and some like just one.

Its not the uniform that should earn respect or condemnation but the individual wearing it.

No i'm not weird and i dont walk weird, but i walk more confidently if that makes any sense.
My missus says i walk with a swagger and like a geezar.
Actually perhaps i am weird.
That made me crack up - my missus says exactly the same. Usually when we're walking the dog or something, about halfway round i'll hear 'Love, you're doing your postman walk again, now slow down and stop rolling your shoulders. You're not at work now'.

'Yes dear' says I before taking my rightful place 2 paces behind her. :funneh

I often pick my kids up or do the shopping in uniform usually because I forget I've still got it on if you know what I mean. Never had anyone say anything to me though, good or bad. Although in the run up to the last walk out the odd person would want to know what was happening, just being nosey like.

I live in a garrison town so I often see soldiers about in their uniform, and I think it's good. They should be allowed to wander about in it without getting anygrief, regardless of what peoples opinion on Iraq and Afghanistan is. It isn't their decision to go there.

Postie uniform comes in well handy I find.

Floating around Tesco with a glazed over look in my eyes seems to help me skip to the front of most queues.

And I don`t drive, so there`s still the chance of an occasional free bus ride from the old-time bus drivers.

All in all, no problems here.

I used to be proud of working for Royal Mail and used to wear my uniform
to and from work but now we seem to have gone down in the public's esteem
thanks to :lfo and :cfo
so I usually cover up with a civvy coat now, but it's more difficult in summer
when I'm wearing just the uniform shirt and trousers.
I do get fed up with being pulled up by people on the London Underground asking
me directions or complaining about the trains being delayed or cancelled, when
I'm knackered and just want to get home.

When I joined twenty odd year ago people respected you in the uniform.
Now I feel embarrassed wearing the f****g thing and can't wait to get it off.

I was the same in a ex nationalized industry , when the shift finished that was it , couldn't get the damm thing off quick enough .

Same drip, drip tactics for privatization , any little thing to be blown out of proportion , you've got Hellfail playing that game and RM managers masquarading as Joe Public on Newspaper HYS , they are so obvious .
MURDERERS. Need to dispose of a body? Simply parcel it up and post it to yourself via DHL. You will never see it again.
