Another Moan
Can't be bothered to start another thread on the Callers Office, so I thought I would bung my query on this one.
I had to phone another CO's yesterday, whilst on the phone to them I thought I would question the person on the end of the line about there office. I asked how many people they had working in there, I was told as they cover 2 postcode districts they have 4 people! My colleague and I cover 4 different postcode areas on different shifts so we only have 1 person in the office at a time!. We are f*****g fuming, we have so much to do during our shifts that we can't cope with the workload but management won't listen
How can we make them listen? Why is there so much variation between different offices, surely there must be a set standard. The packets being brought back are up at least 50% on the past couple of years, but no more help for us. One of the managers wants us to list all the items coming back into the office!!! so we have a record, we used to have a computer to record items coming back but that was taken away a couple of years ago, it would'nt be practical now with the workload.
Do any of your CO's record stuff coming back in/going out?
How many people work in your CO per shift?
How many postcode areas do you cover?

Recording - we should but when its busy we can't. Although we do scan and record all Specials and Internationals. We definitely do record redels of whatever flavour they are as it cuts down on complaints later on.k66yla wrote: I had to phone another CO's yesterday, whilst on the phone to them I thought I would question the person on the end of the line about there office. People in per shift - should be 2 but varies from 1 to 3 depending if there is anyone spare. I work in there when they cant get anyone else and I refuse to do it unless I have at least 1 more in there with me. Also only 1 shift 7-12.30 which makes it worse as the same amount come through the doors as they did before but the time they do is condensed.
6 Postcodes -
Just to give you a flavour we normally have: (per day)
5 -6 Gas boxes (or 1 yorky full)
4000 Box Nos
100 Specials (Form Lefts)
30 Calll and collects (business) and 70 odd (private)
200-300 Recordeds
100 Large Packets (from drivers)
300 Small packets (from walks)
600-700 Surcharge items
Normally send out 20 - 30 Specials for redelivery
50 - 60 Rerecorded and redelivery packets.
2-300 surchages sent our per day when paid for.
