It might be with your rep's backing but that means nothing.
ive just heard the phonecall between the area rep and the area manager, it is with there backing, im pretty pissed off.
Still not the union.
Keep trying though.
Area rep is part of the union, its a national agreement, i dont know what else i can say.

It's a national agreement that only you know about, one that isn't written down anywhere or has been subject to ratification by the PEC and the membership, one that is so top secret even the employer hasn't told anyone but you and the area rep?

That isn't how national agreements work.

It would be an unlawful national agreement for a kick off which would likely end up with mass constructive dismissal and unequal treatment claims against the employer and probably the union as well.

You heard a conversation between your area manager and area rep in your DO?
Was this a conference call and why was you allowed to hear this?
Maybe your telling the truth but I reserve my right to not believe you.

Its hardly rocket science, 'heres a letter, match it to the address on the street and pop it through the hole in the door, Hers a tracked parcel scan the barcode so you hear a beep, put it by the customers door and knock/ring bell, if they answer say thank you and wave, if they dont write a red card out with the details filled in pop it through the hole in the door and bring the parcel back to the office with you' How we get paid a tenner an hour for that still mystify's me.
Tell yourself that when you’re walking the streets on the afternoon shift. “Tenner an hour, tenner an hour”. Hahaha. I’ll leave you to it. From the other replies on this thread you have been well & truly rumbled
“Shorts,in this weather?!”

“If they’re bills I don’t want ‘em!”

“What’s she been ordering now?”

We all have to remember that in the current economic climate (many have lost their jobs and many more will probably lose their jobs once the furlough ends), we're all very easily replaceable

That's nonsense.
We're not any more "replaceable" than at any other time.
Royal Mail never has a shortage of candidates for posts, its problem is retention and the length of time and associated costs involved in recruitment and training.

The number of people on the dole is practically irrelevant whether it's 1 million or 3 million.

Our jobs are at risk but not through replacement, through reduction.

Here's a 70 mile rural with large parts of it so remote that even a satnav is useless, here's 5 different 70 mile rurals that you have to cover over the course of a week, sometimes having to do the whole route back to front in order to accommodate your 1pm Specials... admittedly not quite rocket science but certainly requiring a lot more ability to learn and adapt than your rather simplistic take on the job.
