They were planing for change in 2023 / 24 , when both of the new hubs would be up and running , dont think the potential customers will wait that long
The midlands hub has just got planning permission, it's going very near to NDC, the northern hub is already online (don't know about sorting machines) so it's just the southern hub that we don't (AFAIK) have a confirmed location for
The Midlands Hub will not be up & running until the summer of 2023 , until it is they have not the capacity to compete for the extra traffic there aiming for
i.e Items accessing the system around Mdt for same day delivery

My gut feeling is that it'll be up and running way before summer 2023. The basic building they'll be able to put up quite quick. It'll be the installation and commissioning of the machines that will take the longest time

Low volume of letters, but still 4 packet bags!
''packet bags''? you still got those? we haven't had packet bags in ours since we went park and loop 10yrs ago.

Things have to change unless we get full access to the letter market and can operate as a private company then the restrictions fines etc will kill us. No way can the RM keep paying people to do nothing.

More likely still that they'll keep 6 day deliveries but not deliver some rounds (bar specials and tracked) depending on the day.

Something like:

Duty 1: Mon = walk A plus specials and tracked from walk B, failing letters from walk A as required to finish.
Tue = Walk A

Duty 2: Mon = Walk C
Tue = walk C plus specials and tracked from walk D, failing letters from walk C as required to finish.

Duty 3: Mon = Walk D
Tue = Walk B

repeat. Have perhaps one part time duty who 'mops up' on a Wed and Thu or Thu and Fri.

I know there's a collective delusion that we'll all get every Saturday off and new duties will do the weekends. But no other delivery business works like that and, while I can see RM promising Saturdays off to get people onboard with the idea of the USO being revised, you just need to look at their past record of failed promises to realise working 5 days over 7 is the most likely final outcome rather than weekends off becoming the norm.

If it’s as bad as they say you would think the DSA company’s would pack up shortly.

DSA is also packets, it's not just letters and flats

This is a definite ploy with regard to the USO!

The mail centre that supplies us has had their work plan changed and as a result our delivery office is switching the hours we work on a Monday and Tuesday...

So Monday from next week will become a short day and Tuesday a longer one,we all know that Tuesday is traditionally the lightest day of the week but they've manipulated it so they can go crying to ofcom.

It's not financially viable but with Saturday's now much busier than previously if we could just roll that work over to Monday and drop Saturday letter deliveries I think we can just about break even Mr ofcom :hmmmm

This Monday just gone was ridiculously light lucky mail wise if there was a 20% call rate all being logged to pull the wool over the regulators eyes.

Tuesday we had all the junk mail you would usually get on a Monday what a coincidence.

Also they are wasting money on purpose like they did with the Consignia rubbish lets be honest there is no way on earth you can have as many packets in the network as we do and be a million pound a day down :d'oh!
