They could probably look at the GPS location of where you scanned them compared with the GPS location of where they were meant to be scanned

But so what? We know the PDAs don't always work properly like when the battery goes flat or if it gets a bit of rain in them and the only thing you can do then is write the tracked/recorded and specials down and scan them in later.
If a denial of receipt is lodged the first thing they do is check the scan location, if that's two streets away from where it should be the customer will receive compensation and you'll be accused of misdelivery. A couple of those and you'll be lucky to keep your job.
