Why ? Did you all not have one hour a week taken off of Your duty? You shouldn’t have time to lapse.

Every office is different and work different hours on different days so some will have time and some won’t . The idea that every office shouldn’t have time is just not true I’m afraid..

RM don't have full or accurate figures as to what is going on in terms of how and when posties work. I would definitely say over 50% of posties do not have paid duty time left to do the lapsing/absorption .

But surely if you don’t have time in your duty time to lapse then you don’t lapse .This is an individual issue rather than a whole office issue.

We lapse 6 days a week !!!! I’ve known others to do at least 3 days ?
We lapse whenever we are short staffed. Traffic has no bearing on it whatsoever. Last Wednesday, busy as xxxx , area union rep in the building and they still put a lapsing plan up. Not sure how many took it.
It's now become just a very very inefficient and haphazard way to cover walks. No wonder the business is in the poo!

If you can do a vehicle check, take your break, use your LWT on every loop, make sure your hazard book is upto date, scan 2D barcodes, try delivery to neighbour and STILL find the time to lapse then you must have 1 hell of an easy duty

Using an LWT doesn't slow you down - in fact the reverse as you can carry more small parcels which saves possibly visiting addresses twice. I don't get all the hate over the LWTs - it's not like having to wear cycle helmets all the time.

If you were to injure yourself chances are one of the first questions that a DOM is going to ask is "Were you using the proper equipment?". My gut feeling that if you weren't then it'll instantly be a blameworthy accident

In my experience pushing or pulling one of those golf type bag carriers puts 15 to 20 minutes on each loop, you have to stop at each drop off & how can you sort your next drop with one hand, using trolleys on my walks you would be out till 5 :no no

We lapse 4/5 times a week or if other offices are short we send part timers out and we lapse, when we short we never see a soul, boss just out to make him look good,it’s becomes pretty desperate at times, the sos emails that come out and the conference calls are well worth reading and listening to

Why do people keep calling it 'collapsing'?
