Over sized parcels appropriate to van driver
so youre doing drop bags still ? if so weight and size limits how much you can put into a pouch, the guideline is 11kg after the 1st bag, but this is a max limit and you can make them lower if you wish. You wont see much change in anything unless you "cause" problems by insisting on doing the job properly and maybe causing you to cut off and extend over a long period. If you just carry on as you are nothing will change, if working properly is going to be too much of a hassle for you then you`ll just have to accept the van driver is going to keep having it easy for the time being.

You’re trying to be safe, he’s trying to make time.
When he says he’s not taking them, just say to him “stop trying to make time” and tell Lino to check actuals..

I think RM is more concerned with larger DOs as there are usually more problems that need fixing in those offices. No offence intended but it sounds like your office has been left behind. I expect your DO is still running on the 'job & finish' structure hence why your 'firms' guy is finishing so early. If you have a local union rep maybe it would be an idea to get them involved. There certainly appears to be time for the 'firms' guy to do more parcels for you. Back in the day we used to have a large sheet of metal painted yellow with a hole in the middle. Anything that went through the hole had to be delivered by the bike walks. I agree though that if there were a large multiple of smaller packets for one address it would make sense for the 'firms' guy to deliver them.Wilf wrote:Thanks for your comments.
I am in a small rural office & we have no manager as such-they are stationed 5 miles away & have us & two other rural offices to deal with. The usual answer when any issue is raised is leave it with me and nothing happens!
We have had no revision, do not van share or have loops etc and certainly no bag drops. On of our posties still delivers on a bike! Like a previous couple of comments our driver sails past on his way home when we are still out -he is full time & regularly finishes by 11.00 & is paid until 13.40.Similarly like management he is a law unto himself- totally selfish with no regard to his fellow workers.
I will take the advice given-if parcels are left then its his problem not mine.
By the way the type of individual concerned locks his van so we cannot link up other parcels where he is already going. I have lost count of the times when customers have moaned saying what are you doing here when the van driver has already been. Embarrassing or not?
You will perhaps now see why I wondered if there was a definitive size at which a parcel becomes oversized so he could be shown it in print & then wouldn't have a chance to squirm out of his job!
Cheers-can't wait for xmas.

I do a firms delivery and then go back to the office and do oversized for a few HCT duties. We work together and never argue. If I have a relatively low number of parcels I will ask them if they have any others they would like to get rid of.
Christ ,I would really hate to work in some offices with the attitude posties have to each other.
