Yeah, it was jus a standard parcel with no barcode, so no pda data going to be available.

Think I’ll just stick to 739s for everything now

Good idea mate. :thumbup Especially if it's not your regular duty, and you're a Reserve. You often find in this job that even though you really try and get their parcels to them (be it safe place, neighbours or nearby realtives) they NEVER appreciate it. Come Christmas you can bet they're the ones who don't even bother giving you a can of beer. :Boo hoo! At least if you've got your own duty you get to know the customers who appreciate your efforts. :cuppa

Won't the PDA show you walking to the neighbour's house and then back to the original house?
Isn't that what the outdoor actuals can be used for?

Actuals are only to prove you guilty not innocent.

If it’s a scanned item then your manager can look it up for where the GPS scan was made to prove you scanned it at the neighbours house.

If it was me I would go to the house of the person making the complaint and point to the house you left the parcel at. Then go to the house you left the parcel with and ask them for it.

You might have written the wrong house number down on your neighbour card. I've done it before.

Its a nice touch and let's the people know you care and most importantly they can trust you. Right now you are the "robbing postman bastard" they've not met. That's 100% what their neighbour will be saying.

If the person doesn't know their postman they're more likely to think you pinched it.

Be polite. I think we all have a duty to be trusted otherwise we're just as bad as all the Hermes doorstepping shortcutters who are undercutting us and risking our jobs.

I've left plenty of parcels at neighbors houses only to find when you drive past later the neighbor has left it on the doorstep , that's where I think they go missing. RMs fault with their policy of leaving parcels at neighbors.

Tino - as you said in your OP that this isn't your own round, personally I wouldn't go round to anybody's house. You don't know what issues there may be
between the two neighbours. By trying to solve the problem you might make it worse - the neighbour has already said they don't have it -
going round to their house and having a face to face 'Yes you have' 'No I haven't' could result in a further complaint that you're alleging
they're 'dodgy' or worse (dog being set on you or the threat of a punch in the face on some of the estates I deliver to) - leave it up to the manager - that's what they get paid for. Nobody will thank you if it all goes pear shaped.

RM brought DTN in knowing full well that there may be issues like this. Let them solve it/provide recompense from their (still) mega profits.

Yeah I did think heading over could make the situation a whole lot worse and if RM got wind I was going to customers out of work, it could open a can of worms. Plus I’m not going in my own time

After everyone’s advice I’ve realised I’ve done nothing wrong therefore don’t need to worry

This sort of thing must be fairly common

Not true, in 3 years here the only compliants I've had against me are dor; in all cases they were tracked items and the pda showed I was on their doorstep when scanned so none could be pinned on me as I'd followed the correct procedure. ALWAYS scan on the doorstep, not van ect.

This is why i never leave things with neighbours.
I had a couple of incidents where neighbours have denied having any parcel I gave to them. Now I just don’t bother. I don’t leave in bins. Don’t leave in sheds. Don’t leave them anywhere but the hands of whoever opens the door.
My colleague hates it because I bring back a sackful of packets everyday.
Personally I think there should be an option on the notes section of the parcel that says instead of ‘leave in blue bin’ it says ‘I’m not going to be in, save your town and leave at office and just 739 me’.
Manager moaned at me saying I can leave in safe places now and take a photograph on my PDA but if I can get to this safe place so can anyone with two legs.

GPS accuracy is only to within 5 to 10 metres, maybe worse in built up areas, so if the neigbours' door is less than that distance from the addressee's door there is no way to tell exactly where the PDA scan was done.
Also, the accuracy of the mapping software used introduces further errors so that in reality positional accuracy will probably be no better than a radius of 20 metres or so.
