Can someone show me the national agreement that allows you to be paid for hours you don't work?
Or do we only complain when managers ignore national agreements?
Or do we only complain when managers ignore national agreements?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

You must:
• not claim money from the company for hours you did
not work;
• not claim money for a journey you did not make;
• not claim an expense you did not legitimately have
to pay; or
• not use inside information about a company transaction for
personal profit.
All the above are unacceptable and may be treated as gross
misconduct, which could result in your dismissal. If theft or
fraud is involved, we may prosecute.

In 3 months time and there's an audit which sees your PDA saying you worked an hour but you got paid for two and a half what leg have you got to stand on?leolion855 wrote:what if you agree to do half a round extra, get it completed in an hour but the manager pays you two and half anyway? is that fraud on the posties part?
Will said manager admit paying you more than you're entitled? If not and it appears you were thus overpaid why didn't you bring it to HR attention like you're
supposed to? Where's the big finger of blame going to point?

The problem with RM is it is often a beast with 2 heads.leolion855 wrote:Theirs posties in my office which regularly take double rounds out.That would mean them being out on the streets until at least 8pm. Surely every manager would know that there aren't any posties delivering after 4pm?
Of course everyone knows what is going on but that doesn't make it right.
You cannot claim 4 hours overtime for 2 hours work. As it says in the Business Standards it could lead to dismissal.
We can't harp on about how we want a fair and transparent workplace one day and then negotiate our own individual overtime rates the next.
If people don't want to do one hour of overtime for one hour of pay then they shouldn't do it.
If they want double time they should bring it up with the relevant union negotiators.

But there’s the problem. They wouldn’t, who would do extra work for around £5. It’s got to be worth it. Being offered 2hrs pay is a way of making it worth it. It’s a buyers market. Being offered 2 or more hours is different than booking extended and not doing it. I bet all the people moaning are the ones who a jealous of people eaning more money than them.NewPostieUK wrote:No, the people who do 45 mins overtime should be paid 45 mins.jd9442 wrote:So my office should be hiring people instead of paying someone 2 hours to do 45 min overtime

Most of the ghost is claimed against absence so if someone is off and the hours for that duty are 8.30 and they pay 2 people 2.30 each to deliver it and absorb the indoor work royal mail have saved 3.30 that they would have to pay to a permanent leave reserve. Thats why royal mail run with loads of vacancies, if they ever reallly decide to stop ghost it will cost them a fortune. According to georute if a loop takes 45 minutes and thats what they pay for it, if someone does it quicker theyve still done the overtime its not like they are claiming for it then leaving it in the frame until the next day so in effect they are claiming money from the company for hours that have been budgeted for. If i remember rightly when some posties and managers got sacked for ghost claiming it was in a mailcentre and they where claiming for hours when no actual work was being done a bit different to someone actually delivering mail against an absence.clashcityrocker wrote:You must:

No it isn't.number one wrote: It’s a buyers market.
If it was I could simply undercut you every day and I would get all the overtime and you would get none.
Or someone could walk into your office and offer to do your job for the minimum wage.
I'm sure you wouldn't just walk out the door muttering about the "buyer's market".
It doesn't matter how you spin it. It states that you cannot claim for hours you do not work.
It doesn't say - unless they have already been budgeted for, or unless you are really quick or unless you are digging your DOM out of a hole.
The overtime rates are negotiated by the union. Not by individuals.

So if everybody refuses to do overtime then what? Customers suffer, businesses suffer, Royal Mails performance sufferers then what? The Mail needs to be delivered each day!
