You should be able to use the overrunning procedure without any hassle from managers because all the evidence is there in black and white on the PDA actuals. Problem is managers are refusing to acknowledge them! Why aren’t the CWU pushing for them to be used to back us up??Celgar wrote:The overrunning procedure is not fit for purpose.k979aaa wrote:And I Agree with you on that thing is is the overrunning procedure fit for purpose in this day and age with LAT products and mixing and matching of duties esp when one has no control of prep or other factors should not the onus be upon the mangers and not the OPG to ensure the job is doable for want of a better word!rehabron wrote:It's obvious that a new start in the first weeks will go over their time due to unfamiliarity with the territory and be financially reimbursed for the extra time but unscrupulous managers using the possibility of termination of their probationary period like an axe over their head to pressurise and bully new starts to accept an unachievable workload is NOT ACCEPTABLE to the CWU.
What we need first of all is an accurate computer system to plan walks so they are equal.
Then we need a new overrunning procedure. If a postie returns past their duty time extended should be able to be booked without any hassle or sarcasm. This event should be documented by the manager and if it happens a lot then the walk should be tested to see if it is too long.

I disagree ! Why did the not help you ?PHARRY wrote:tommyrep wrote:It's not the CWUs fault matey ! Flexing up is YOUR choice and cannot be enforced. Time back within a week if you wish.
You need to stick up for yourself, managers will always push their luck and if you let them they will shiit on you from a great height. 30 mins EVERY day, lol, they are taking the piss big time.
It is the CWU fault they never helped me when I worked for RM. when manger told me to flex 30 minutes a day
Were you aware the manager was in the wrong. It was NEVER ever 30 mins per day.
It was an option to be applied - with both parties consent - to flex up by 30 mins, due to unforeseen circumstances like mail centre break down or transport problems, that is “ out of the blue “ situations.
The 30 minutes were to be honoured within one week, or if you preferred OT payment. Never knew any cases where that 30 min due time was honoured in my experience. You were conned, not unlike many other posties.
Glad your manager never told you to jump in front of a bus.

They should. It's part of the role I take very seriously. Your there to look after the new starters. Many times I've had to step in and stick up for them when managers start messing them around. On more than one occasion my intervention has stopped a new starter walking away from the job.rehabron wrote:The work place coach should also take an active part.rehabron wrote:I fully understand the predicament a new start would have while on their probationary period as they do not want to rock the boat and have their eyes set on a contract. Maybe this is an area where the union should be more progressive and monitor the new starts from being misused by management.k979aaa wrote:With all due respect for you and the CWU do you not think time marches on all well and good if you have 20 years plus in the business but new starts try telling that to your manager remember your on probation for the first two years!rehabron wrote:Why are you putting the blame on the CWU for going over your finishing time ? The cut off procedure was put in place by the CWU to put a halt to this so going over your finishing time is down to you and you alone. If you start taking 30 minutes of mail back continually you will find that your workload will be reduced or you can claim overtime. If you are incurring 30 minutes every day then it looks as if the swings and roundabouts flexible agreement cannot be used.gunho wrote:Is it real. 30mins over every day so when do you get that time back. No change to my days with Royal Mail. Rep who did not or did not want to understand the rules. Rep who was doing the job just to gain a management position so under the thumb of the manager. If you cannot or will not take up the fight yourself against this appalling piece of union agreement, then you are in for a hard time.
