35 hour full-time contract
How would this 35hr FT contract work come October for FT duty hours? If they have 3 hours less than a FT duty, does that mean working to their time results in cutting off 36 minutes early?(3 hours divided over 5 days). Or will they automatically get paid 36 mins OT each day until the working week drops to 35 hours?

It’s my union rep that told me they won’t make me up till October and at 35 hours, so where do I go from here grievance wise?Creditshampoo wrote:Bang on mate. Grievance it if your rep isn’t any help. and save all the messing about. I know a few offices that are pushing for any FT positions to be done asap so as to get in before the 35 hour comes
into effect.
Won’t all that will happen is they will say we have no full time positions at the moment but will have in October as I know there are some full timers retire between now and October

I've worked in loads of various warehouses, factories, offices etc during my formative years and soap-dodging days. I've never experienced canteens that are as clean as the ones in the DOs at RM (only worked in 3 DOs). Full credit to the cleaning staff for the excellent job they do (they appear to give generous resourcing to that part of the building). To paraphrase Rodney Trotter......'its amazing how you can keep this canteens so clean.....especially when you consider no bleeder uses them........' .
yeh it does include breaks, .....although most posties don't have time for breaks if they want to complete.........

Not as such it’s a long story basically I had a buy down 8 years ago and in the past year I’ve wanted to go back up to full time but I was never asked, now other people that had buy downs after me have been made up in the past year to a full time position which has pissed me off a little and now that the deal has gone through they say they can only give me 35 hours and I’ll have to wait till OctoberCreditshampoo wrote:So you haven’t actually been offered full time?j1mmyc wrote:It’s my union rep that told me they won’t make me up till October and at 35 hours, so where do I go from here grievance wise?Creditshampoo wrote:Bang on mate. A 32-hour contract is not full time, they should be getting the 2.6% pay increase and continuing to work the same length shift as last week.chrismondeo wrote:We have some 32 hr contracts that work mon thur fri and sat every wk so they work 4 days full time hrs fine when 8hr days but now we dont do 4 8hr days so they get a pay increase and reduction in hrs how does that work ?
Depending on how your depot's duties are designed, you may have instances where part time staff cover full time's day off, as far as I'm aware that means the day off cover could well be starting earlier than the duty holder would be, perhaps by 12 minutes each day.

I did not recall either - but this was posted recently in the union forum;mickeymacca wrote:I don't recall seeing anything about full time contracts in the interim only being offered at 35 hours, could well have missed it though. I'm surprised the Union are not all over this as it seems a perfect example of not being in the 'spirit of the agreement'.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Yes, that goes up by the same amount. As does the SSPR element which includes DS for overtime. So if you are doing 39 hours now on a 35-hour contract, and when we drop to 38 - you will be paid the same as us.j1mmyc wrote:How about delivery supplement if I’m getting made up to fulltime?TrueBlueTerrier wrote:To be clear everyone will get a 2.6% pay rise in October.A2B wrote:Yes anyone not getting a reduction in the working week will get it
It's just that the pay rise for FTs is offset by the reduction in hours worked.
The only thing is when you are on leave you'll only be paid the 35 hours as per contract, not the 38 you work on average. Is it wrong - yes, its one of the reasons I voted No to this deal.
I'm a bit concerned about this passage in the Four pillars agreement: (page 12/13 - 13.Shorter working week
"New full time employees from October 2018, recruited either from existing employees or new recruits in the core
OPG grade, will be on a 35 hour week at the current hourly basic pay rate with pro-rata allowances aligned to the
current full-time conditioned hours. Additional hours performed through overtime or scheduled attendance for
those employees on this new contract will be paid at single rate overtime until the total hours worked align to that
of our current full time contracted employees. This will be adjusted as we progress through the SWW flightpath"
LTB 553/18 JOINT statement;
Although implementation of the first hour reduction is clearly a positive message, we also recognise that there are still many reported problems out in the field around resourcing and culture and we are determined to work just as hard to resolve these issues and fully deploy the spirit and intent of our Agreements.
. "Many reported problems out in the field around resourcing ..."
It appears not just the spirit of the agreements are not being deployed but the legally binding commitments on resourcing in line with current agreements.

35 hour full-time contract
35 hours is not a full time contract. It doesn't matter how much RM and the union want to dress it up as a way of creating more full time jobs. It's still part time.
By definition part time is part of the usual working week. If the working week is 38 hours and someone is offered a 35 hour contract it is still part time until everyone is on 35 hour weeks. As such these 35 hour guys should still keep their rounds rather than have to go as full time reserves.
