Why would they do that?
What's more likely to happen is that the larger walks will leave the office earlier, the extra indoor resource needed to make that happen will come from the smaller walks/ runners who obviously don't need as much outdoor time.
Shifting bits of walks around would just move the problem elsewhere, create confrontation and encourage other people to slow down, why would Royal Mail want to go down that road?

Any cut off just sits there and gets put back in the frame the next day, no attempt to clear it on O/T.
That isn't supposed to happen and the DOM will eventually get in serious trouble if they continue running their office like that.

We, the posties, are still completely in the dark as to the future within RM on so many issues. PDA data isn't supposed to be used against posties on an individual basis but even DOMs are thinking this is likely to happen on a official basis. In the short term I agree that ideas such as taking posties off IPS completely to even out longer walks. But this idea cannot be a permanent fix with RM looking to use technology etc to reduce indoor work. I think in the end AHDC & PDA data will be used to make walks equal as far as is possible and certainly more accurately than the current computer system of walk design. Even then you obviously have variables such as faster and slower posties and differing amounts of mail.

If indoor work is reduced larger deliveries will simply become more manageable since there will be more outdoor scope. In theory the shorter working week should balance things out but at some point duties will get longer. What won't be happening is larger duties getting something taken off them and given to runners, it makes no sense to reduce duties and cause mayhem just to increase those duties again 6 months down the line.

Regarding the quote my walk is longer than all but one of the other walks in our DO so to try and fix that the requirement to do IPS has been removed from the longest walk and my walk. RMs plan is to reduce or remove the need for IPS/indoor work so if all walks in the DO had a reduction in the indoor work that would negate the levelling reduction on the two longest walks. Hope that clarifies what I was trying to explain.
The SWW is all about the union trying to protect current jobs. If the SWW results in not enough duty hours in an office budget to complete all the duties then more hours will be added to the office budget to compensate. This has already been confirmed.
Everyone fully realises all the variables within the business but 'runners' need to realise if they are getting back maybe 60, 90, or 120 minutes before time and others are going over duty time or cutting off something is going to give. In this situation and once RM have enough data to hang us by the 'runners' are going to get more work to do. Alternatively the walks will be redesigned with the new data that has been collated. Everyone knows the current system of walk design, with maybe a little 'fiddling' on the part of the Postie's, has resulted in walks not all being the same length.
The first targets from the use of PDA data will be 'inefficient offices' and posties who are hanging around somewhere for XXX period of time then returning back to the DO at the same time. Obvious is obvious.

I must admit that my local postie is always walking very quick. I talk to him quite a bit as he is only in the job about 4 months and tell him to get his fat partner out of the van at the end of the street to give him a dig out. I have told him more about meal reliefs, docket and cutting off that RM ever told him ( his words). I'm not being an interfering ex postie but just hate to see ANYBODY get screwed over especially by the new RM.

Aye, but get a manager to have these discussions with the faster postie to do more indoor or outdoor work within their hours and they start wondering if its worth all the aggro.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
