With your Business Referal, This isnt the same as a Atos meeting that YOU ask for.. It is from RM.. I have been to many myself and my advice is Get a appointment of your own mate!!! Phone the number on back of our wage slip. Or it should be on the Stg 1 That your screw gave u??? It covers your back and can help get ANY cicumstances that are in your life!!! I myself never went before and RM held this against me. And many others as "NOT HELPING YOURSELF" Its bollocks but this is wot they come up with to take the blame off of any thing they might of done!! As in your case.. This SCREW has not the right to suggest that your sick coincides with school hols... BANG OUT OF ORDER!!!! .. If you have a GOOD REP and you make your case clear. I hope n pray RM cant have the gall to carry out this stg1... As there ISNT A APPEAL.. BUT... There has been cases where a stg 1. 2 . Been quashed.. So push this!!! When proved WRONG!!!!!!

He's obviously got away with it and has been reverted back to a stage 2,has to keep his nose very clean now for the next year,if he goes 18 months without sick he will come off all stages,12 months he will go down to a stage 1.
He'd best be grateful,what with the climate we're in.

God these stage 1s really p1ss me off......your made to feel like a criminal for being ill,forgetting all the times we come in when we shouldn't because we are sick, etc
RM are always banging on about reducing sickness.....some of our managers are off more than the postmen and all they do all morning
after we have all gone out is play pool or sit around drinking coffee, a few years ago a manager put me on a stage 1 after i had been off sick for 3 weeks after ripping
tendons in my foot while on delivery...he said i contributed to the accident because i obviously wasn't watching where i was going when i had the accident

The screw now at Burslem put a guy at Stoke on a stage 1 when he came back to work after having bowel cancer, the guy hadnt even had the all clear, but the guys at Stoke walked out and he had to withdraw the stage, but he was heard to say he was told to withdraw it and if it was up to him it would have stood, thats the sort of managers weve got now, you couldnt even call them human beings, and isnt RM supposed to be cancer research sponsors.

A good friend of mine (who fortunately recovered and came back.) who had heart attack and was in hospital with a machine keeping him alive a few years ago had his other half receive a call from a screw 'When will he be back, we need the jobs covering', when she said I don't know if he will last the week his reply was 'oh, not on monday then' couldn't grasp the seriousness of it at all, the *******!

Message 4 rachris , I am pretty certain that asthma comes under the " disability and discrimination act " which in the long term means it should be dealt with by the EHS.

totally agree im sure this comes under the DDA and if so should be discounted and will also help with any other possible asthma related illnesses in the future

p.s and if you still feel strongly about follow all the above advice and bung in a grievance and get some of your hubbys mates also to bung in some grievances too

We have had RM take on postman over sick leave coverd by a doctors certifercate both times it ended up in court and both times it cost RM thousands. posties walked away laughing.

Hi I am have recently done the attendance and grievance procedure as part of my Union rep training, so I will help as best I can. Asthma definately IS covered by the DDA, i have it myself, and as a result you can't be sacked for it IF and that is a big IF you have it registered with the EHS and it is a debilitating illness. See if you have asthma in the form that you might get a rattly chest every now and then, you aren't really covered, a disability is something which affects your every day life. For example say you sometimes have an attack which stops you going shopping with the missus, then this is covered by the DDA. It is important to realise that the illness HAS TO AFFECT YOUR HOME LIFE, they dont care about it affecting your work life. After reading twhat has been put here I would definately say your asthma is covered, but you have to get it in writing somewhere.

As for the warning, well you can't do a lot about it now its been issued, and a grievance won't get you anywhere, after all it is another manager who carries out the grievance procedure, and they are hardly going to bollock one of their own are they? What you need to do is write a letter to whom it may concern, stating how you feel you were treated unfairly and mitigation, ie your asthma, wasn't taken into consideration when the decision was being made. When you have done that demand that it be placed on your file with the warning, so if you are called in again for a stage 2 or even a 3 eventually the note will be there for anyone present to see, then it will HAVE to be taken into account.

hi, thanks for that wilbur spoons,you have been most helpful. i am waiting for an appointment with the occupational health at the moment,and i have also refused to sign the notes of the stage 1 interview until the manager has amended it as required. my rep said that 5 out of the 8 points she made on it were invalid and wouldnt hold up,so until she amends it i aint signing.
