What disgruntled means to say is "I booked 50 hours overtime" not I worked 50 hours.

How much do you "book" on an ordinary week then?

Quite right opt out,but that does not allow you to work 50 hrs o/t legally.
I believe the hours would be averaged over a set period of time therefore it's not illegal anyway I only do it over the Christmas period.

Everyone needs to get used to working more than 40 hrs because of the deal
This is not true friend :Very Happy No one can be forced to work more then 40 hours a week.
From the Agreement

• Longs and shorts – a structural change where the normal work pattern may be rebalanced across the week to reflect the traffic profile. For example individuals could be scheduled to work 7 hours on a Tuesday and 9 hours on a Friday. Total weekly contractual hours would not change.

• Variation of hours – Where necessary, for example when traffic volumes are unexpectedly high or resourcing issues arise, individuals may be asked and may themselves request to vary their duty times by up to 30 minutes on a swings and roundabouts basis. Again, individual circumstances will be taken into account and total weekly contractual hours would not change.

Royal Mail just love people like you Mr disgruntaledpostie if half the work force did as you do then the other half could kiss goodbye to their jobs and Royal Mail could make lots and lots of money for Mr Croziers bonus. You lead the way mate Croziers right behind you watching how to fit a quart into a pint pot.

Since they scrapped our SA hours over christmas I work zero hours OT. Cut off! They can keep their 30 mins ad hoc when it suits them. They say " What about christmas spirit". Do me a favour you don't know the meaning of it!

These hours were included for last weeks pay packet when we got all the back pay etc. After tax his take home pay for last week was approx £950 :Applause He was gutted he missed the grand tho!
