I can't see us ever going below a 38hr week without losing paid breaks.

What happens to pay when hours are reduced to 38

contributions and delivery supplement paid, eventually 4 hours loss of contributions/payments if we go down to 35 hours...??
Pay rise might make up for it in the short term but you can be sure that the bean counters have worked out over the long term that the reduced
employer pension contributions will be more than the pay rise.
A common term bandied about during the negotiations was that your pension is deferred wages - well guess what - your pension will be worth
less because of the reduced pension contributions based on your pensionable pay working hours.
You do realise that when we go down to 38hrs then eventually to 35hrs your pay stays the same!! So you’re hourly rate increases!

You are getting paid meal relief/breaks at present in line with the way forward agreement which he referred to in responding to a question regarding meal relief & the SWW.NewPostieUK wrote:No mention of 'paid'.rogersh wrote:Rmtv processing 7th May 2018 Simon Barker stated ;NewPostieUK wrote:I know it won't be this year, but If and when we lose paid breaks, I would consider that a drop in wages.

Drivers do not get paid meal relief but that may be reviewed as a consequence of the SWW

I get that bit Number one - should have mentioned I was looking at it from my perspective as a P/T'er who can sometimes build up to more thannumber one wrote:yellowbelly wrote:Your pensionable pay will go down by an hour and eventually 4 hours (if it all goes to plan) so how about 1 hour less pensionCelgar wrote:............... 35 hours on O/T. Currently those hours up to 39 accrue pension contributions but will get reduced when the SWW hours come in. A 5% and 2% pay increase
won't balance out loss of the value of 10% employer contributions and 6% employee contributions on the reduced hours that are eligible
for pension contributions. (I'm stuck on the RMDCP!!!).
As I said one way or another it's going to work out better for RM than it does us.

But as the pay to 39 hours is pensionable by a certain percentage, and the new 38-hour limit is on the same pay means, surely, that the pension contributions remain the same in numbers
Eg
£10 an hour with 10% pension contribution = £1 per hour. Total contribution £39
an increase of 2.6% means hourly wage is
£10.26 per hour. Pension contribution = £1.03 per hour Total contributions = £39

Although, obviously, we'll all get an hrs overtime extra a week, as we all know, they'll not change our duties to reflect the hr less.jimt81 wrote:No.All staff who currently have a 39 hr contract will see no change to their pay and allowance when the hour reduction comes in this October.
Part time staff will see an increase of approx 2.6% in their salary.

TBT - ack your comments on that one - for the first hourly reduction. But (unless I've got my kex totally in a twist!)TrueBlueTerrier wrote:But as the pay to 39 hours is pensionable by a certain percentage, and the new 38-hour limit is on the same pay means, surely, that the pension contributions remain the same in numbers

to maintain that £39 over a reduction down to 35 hours the hourly pay rate based for those who are not already
on full time (39) contracts the nominal round figure of £10 you started with would have to rise to:
reduction to 37 hrs: £1.05 (should be covered by the next 2% rise)
36 hrs: £1.08 (2.8 rise)
35 hrs: £1.11 (2.7% rise)
Are we going to get annual pay rises above 2% at the next pay review (Apr 2020)? Let's hope so.....

This 35 hour week malarky seems to give RM free reign to make the job harder and pay the staff less!
You'll be on 35 hours, taking home less money overall (compared to what you would), and probably doing more outdoor work.
