Green cards to collect pda

Ours are kept in a cabinet and you can grab yours any time. Every PDA has the duty number on the back of it along with the manager having a note of the phone number for each duty's PDA. This works quite well as if someone smashes their PDA screen they can't just steal somebody else's.

None have gone missing & we all have our delivery numbers written on the back of the pda

It wouldn't surprise me if RM were to make all delivery staff sign for their PDAs eventually

Wouldn't be a problem really if we had to. There are more worrying things on the cards than that.

Wouldn't surprise me either colleagues in my office are damaging their PDA's and then swapping them with other people's

The other week if we refused to take out a bit of a delivery that wasn't covered we were told that if we were caught loitering we would be dismissed
Sounds like a bit of intimidation and perhaps even bullying taking place. What would happen if you refused to take out the bit of a delivery that wasn't covered and still ended up claiming overtime for doing your own round? See, its almost like they are forcing you all to take extra and those that aren't taking extra are specifically going to be watched by management for that day to see if they can find you 'loitering'. This could be classed as unfair if they didn't check up on everyone else and provide the details at the same time. How could the managers prove loitering as gross misconduct i.e. instant dismissal?? For example, if they saw you chatting to a customer for 10 minutes, you could reasonably argue that you were dealing with a customer issue. If they caught you eating a sandwich in the van, well, are you allowed a 20 minute break if you didn't get chance to take one earlier? Not every work place has a canteen that provides meals and we all work through lunch time.

Chances are managers would try and try and find you out over something else such as wilful delay of mail, door stepping or mail integrity. I've seen a few staff being pulled in for that. But the fact that managers threaten dismissal for something that the lazy fcuke*s could do themselves beggers belief.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
