What Royal Mail wanted initially was everything and the kitchen sink.

Walk ownership, no sick pay, monthly pay, expecting to work for nothing when a colleague goes sick i.e. team working…the list was endless but it now becomes all too clear that what Royal Mail really want are frameless offices so that posties merely collect their mail and do their delivery. The reduction in indoor sorting and one wave will inevitably drive bigger outdoor delivery spans and fewer posties required to do the work.

This is what will drive the later starts and whilst the CWU have stopped most later finishes till 3.30pm - who's to say that Royal Mail are going to stop there?? Forget about us, everything is about the shareholders and the share price now. And this agreement was never about pay but you can be sure that once the agreement gets accepted Royal Mail will have us all out working blood, sweat and tears for it by means of greater efficiency. And just how efficiency can you be if you are expected to work faster for longer?? I know, the dreaded PDA actuals. We know where some of those 'trials' could lead.

I don't believe we should have compromised on pensions but if its as good as the CWU and Royal Mail say it is then why don't we vote once the Government has agreed this CDC scheme?? Saying that, the CWU wanted this sort of scheme and RM HQ initially rejected it out of sight - that should tell anyone everything about how RM work. Part time review of contracts?? Don't make me laugh! There should be a review every 6 months or so, but DOMs always seem to find ways round not promoting part-timers to full-time hours - that is unless there is some sort of revision every decade or so. Also, RM could stop bullying overnight if they just get rid of the managers and DOMs that have already had written warnings about their conduct, but they just end up working in another office somewhere..

I really want to be positive about the SWW. For those who work on machines or in admin, no disrespect, but the SWW is a no brainer - its a great deal. But for those trudging the streets with their trolleys a bit further just so we can all have a shorter week. Well, we lose out again. So bigger rounds, more D2Ds if 'trials' of the D2D collating machine are successful, more tracked items, which postie is really going to take much notice of those dwindling mail volumes. lies, damned lies and statistics.

Instead of taking what we have got, that is, a slipshod agreement which will be characterised with local offices making up their own agreements (because it does and it creates problems) - why don't we just take what we still have?? The Royal Mail board are banking on us accepting this deal. Just think... they are more than happy now to give you a pay rise when just 6 months ago, they were saying you were overpaid. You don't need a degree in Economics to understand that something just doesn't add up.

Thats why I'm voting NO

The devil is always in the detail.
Remember the " way forward agreement ", I certainly do.
How a Union could sign up to that agreement remains a mystery to me. We were well and truly shafted.
Recall how the flexibility aspect of an agreement that was twisted and abused by many unscrupulous managers to con weaker units. Remember their attempts to bank hours !! , in some places ? You all know their true methods in their quest of " interpretation" and being flexible.
This and other deals have always worked to the benefit of RM, with the varying levels of " interpretation " only adding fuel to the pre arranged Bon fire. RM cherry pick the parts to drive through their own view on written words within agreements.
It has always been the case. The Union at national level cannot keep pace with the evil actions by many managers only too keen to shoot holes in agreements to argue their opinions - bullying and intimidating many OPGs who are ignorant of complex agreements left un supported by a Union nationally and left to unfair treatment at the hands of bully's.
The areas many members thought were solid in their cases, like the PT hours increased due to basically working full time, finding they have been conned. There are other cleverly placed loopholes for RM to exploit and always to the detriment of members.
So be careful what you wish for or expect, there is always a sting in the tail with loosely worded agreements and this one is jam packed with too many ifs and maybes. It is not a rock solid deal by any stretch of the imagination.
As I have said, the main subject of B&H and the constant intimidation - that effects all people daily in delivery- will still go on and even rocket under this agreement. It's time our Union took much more interest in the smaller units who suffer for too many poor agreements in the past. I am not convinced they really know the true impact their agreements have at grass roots level.
That is my experience of working for "These people" to a T. Well said.
Bye

Again on the button ,but I'd question the use of "slipshod" ,I'd suggest it is anything but. Seems very carefully crafted to me. Which raises a whole new set of questions ,'walk this way'

Postslippette is bang on the nail. Careful thought and experience tells me it’s a NO.
We all know what RM wanted. It was obscene expectations, where our members were to have a future akin to slaves.
No person within any trade union organisation backing would ever accept that vision on those terms to retain employment.
Lucky to have a job !! look at our competitors staff T&Cs, we need to compete etc, they are really poor abused individuals.
We must learn from past mistakes and RMs devious actions.
Leopards rarely change their spots!
Our own self respect should not allow any further routine intimidation at work, we need to be treated with dignity and respect. The bullying culture must be stopped, intimidation must be stopped, this deal will only encourage it.

Lets start again, everything else deleted now.

Reps, there must be more out there, any thoughts at all.
Ok then as a starter, do you think your cheer was bigger than the other meetings cheers and was it emotional.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

We've not had any gate meetings at all since the agreement between RM and the CWU. Yet before the epic YES vote there was a gate meeting every fortnight!! I spoke to one of the reps yesterday about the deal and he mentioned that a pay increase would probably swing it for some and that the pension offer is better than having no pension deal at all. Seriously?? What about the B&H, what about the bigger duties, what about being spied on via your PDA actuals? He still thought that the overrunning procedure was still an effective tool and couldn't understand why anyone would suffer any b&h

He reckons the PDA actuals give a good insight to how many calls you make during the day and from this the managers can estimate what to take off in the event of someone wanting to finish to time!! Unbelievable! Don't they know its just an excuse for managers to not do a delivery because the packets end up getting left for the next day and the day after that.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
