So, do I read this right that some offices are going to drop an hr and some aren't? How's that fair?

Just like all offices have a last letter of 3pm now.
Some offices will finish later.

I'm reading this as the later finishing DO's will be the ones with CSS machines in their office.

What members will have to understand is that even if they are on the list of offices not affected by the LAT that doesn't necessarily mean Royal Mail won't try to move their attendance times later. Due to mailcentre changes and the move to 17.5 ton lorries a lot of DOs are no longer synced with mailcentre departure times. This is why some offices are getting later feeds than usual and sometimes most of their work on the last vehicle.
Pressure will be applied on the basis that it isn't LAT impact that's causing the change but network optimisation. Reps need to be ready for this and guidance has to come from HQ on what the position is for an office on the "happy" list that suddenly finds itself under pressure to change anyway.

There was a bit somewhere about review of machine equipment (bottom of page 15 of the agreement), where potentially all machines are under review, so possibly could that end up with some MPUs reverting back to being normal DOs and the sequencing being done purely in MCs?Sugar wrote:I'm reading this as the later finishing DO's will be the ones with CSS machines in their office.

I did post this below
on another thread for Dingo ...but no reply....Anyone ?
"Dingo , something just does not add up with this ! , so RM have moved from a position of them wanting a nationwide last letter time of 5pm ?,
And now have accepted 1023 offices will have no change at all ??....can you explain this massive backtrack by RM ?, or was it they didn`t really want 5pm last letter at all

Sorry you are mixing two different factors up. The '1023 offices' refers to possible later start times due to LAT which is mail entering the system later. The '5pm' bit you mention is to do with the theoretical time for last letter delivered. The proposal/agreement moves these times to 1530 for town walks & 1630 for rurals.donut wrote:I did post this belowon another thread for Dingo ...but no reply....Anyone ?

I'm 49 and regularly pick up my Grandson.

Have they factored in the possible axing of wave 2 of sequencing (might end up with wave 2 just being walk sorted - bottom of page 28 of the agreement)? Will that work if you've got 10+ boxes on wave 2? With the shorter week, there will be less scope for running 24, 28, maybe even 32 boxes on a CSS during wave 1 so potentially you might get days where a batch has near 20+ boxes on wave 2

RM said they wanted lots of things, either they worked out that they didn't really need them (at least in this pay deal timeframe) or it was something added so they could concede it in negotiations to look like they were giving grounddonut wrote:I did post this belowon another thread for Dingo ...but no reply....Anyone ?

RM were never going to get a lot of the stuff they were asking for but it looks good for the union that they dropped silly ideas such as fake self employment type ideas etc..

Quite possibly but we are serving quite a few offices with our CSS machines and have been taking on extra batches this past 12 months so I couldn't see the nearest MC being able to cope and get everyone's mail out on time. You're left feeling its all good on paper but like everything else with the RM planning department it'll fall way short of expectations with the workforce left to pick up the pieces.SpacePhoenix wrote:There was a bit somewhere about review of machine equipment (bottom of page 15 of the agreement), where potentially all machines are under review, so possibly could that end up with some MPUs reverting back to being normal DOs and the sequencing being done purely in MCs?Sugar wrote:I'm reading this as the later finishing DO's will be the ones with CSS machines in their office.

Does your local MC use their IMPs or iLSMs for sequencing? How many engineers have they normally got per shift? If they've only one and that engineer is around your MPU fixing a CSS there (what's the approx round journey time between your MPU and the local MC excluding any time required to fix the machines) and one of their machines breaks down, then that could potentially be a couple of hours downtimeSugar wrote:Quite possibly but we are serving quite a few offices with our CSS machines and have been taking on extra batches this past 12 months so I couldn't see the nearest MC being able to cope and get everyone's mail out on time.
