But at what cost don't just look at back pay look what you will have to do to earn that pay in the future a done deal is one where we are not done in by the deal!Chitchat wrote:Lets be honest the majority of people are expecting the back dated pay. So any deal that is put together without that lump sum backed dated is going to be harder to sell to the membership. As the backed dated pay would run into then hundreds it would certainly be welcome after christmas.

Pay Rise ?
Whichever way it's sliced there will be backdated pay. Backdated to October but double the percentage or backdated to April but half the percentage. To be honest by the time they get this nailed down in writing, out to the members and then ratified there won't be much difference between the two figures.Chitchat wrote:Lets be honest the majority of people are expecting the back dated pay. Pay Rise ?
What if the sum of money is greater paid backdated to October than if it was backdated to April ?
Remember even if there is an agreement by the end of this month , this will have to be endorsed by the PEC , than put to a National Briefing and than there will be meetings for every local Rep in the UK to explain the agreement , than there will be Branch membership meetings and local gate meetings and than every member will have an individual ballot on the agreement.
The result won’t be known until some time in March and if the pay deal was backdated to October than there would still be 6 months back pay.

Pay Rise ?
It happens all the time. We know Royal Mail string out the pay deal and hey presto, they don't back date it till April. Works every time, a great sleight of hand, which as a union we never seem to be able to see through. Some of us had plans for that back pay. Ah well, back to the credit card. Also I really don't think the union should worry about explaining any thing. People are fed up with the year long wait and prob will accept any thing that looks half decent now. I suggest we start looking at the 2019 pay deal, well about now.dingo wrote:What if the sum of money is greater paid backdated to October than if it was backdated to April ?

Don’t take us for fools. 2.8% backdated for 12 months will always be more than 4.8 % backdated for 6 monthsdingo wrote:What if the sum of money is greater paid backdated to October than if it was backdated to April ?

First of all the mediator recommended 2.6% and 2%.RTP wrote:Of course that’s providing any pay rises are as per mediators recommendation
Secondly those are just recommendations, they are not legally binding on either side.

2.6% over 12 months is still greater than 4.6% over 6 months if we want to split hairs. I realise they aren’t legally binding, but naively thought that’s what the pay rises would be given inflation figures. I guess I am a fool after all.fishtank wrote:First of all the mediator recommended 2.6% and 2%.RTP wrote:Of course that’s providing any pay rises are as per mediators recommendation

Cynical me now thinks it will be something like 2.2% for 2017 and 2.4 for 2018.

Pay Rise ?
I'm sorry but all the people in my office are expecting pay back dated to April. It's a simple as that, if an offer is put forward that doesn't have their pay rise for 2017 back dated to the supposed start time of that pay rise (April) then people are going to be feeling let down and ripped off. Even if you say we will be better of by back dating it to October which I can't see how.
