What’s with this “not insured” nonsense. Stop making things up!!
Was threatened with this as I had an accident at the end of a shift once in the workplace so don't come that with me you are employed from x time to x time anything other is voluntary so get your facts right! If you are going to go over inform managers beforehand or at any point whilst on delivery but don't try and justify working for free!
He is not justifying working for free. Also, he is right, to quote the oracle known as Fishtank

Your counter argument would be that it's accepted practice.

The Original Poster said she did not want to work overtime and indeed and inaction you can do this but it maybe detrimental to your future prospects in working for royalmail but if she has genuine reasons and I believe her reasons too be true working without being paid is one a travesty and two is Illegal and you would not be covered by any insurance as they would say what time were you paid till standard question? remember you are not in an office this time if you go over YOU MUST TELL THE MANAGER ideally before you go out but anything can delay you whist on delivery so you should do so then at anytime! And then you are covered not only insured but for failure of delivery or anything else.

You are at it again!!! STOP making things up!! Illegal is it? What law is that then? Contact the manager when out on the delivery? How do you do that then? Use your own phone? Why should you? You need to stop with this not insured nonsense!! Accept youre wrong for gods sake!
Overtime pay
Employers don’t have to pay workers for overtime. However, employees’ average pay for the total hours worked mustn’t fall below the National Minimum Wage.
An employee’s employment contract will usually include details of any overtime pay rates and how they’re worked out.
We however have a contract which sets the rates for overtime so it would be in breach of your contract to not pay you, not a breach of the law.

Spot on. It should have been revamped when Van Share came in, if not before. My partner and I are on a Van Share duty and both part time. Prep is done (mostly) when we get in. How are we supposed to know if we'll finish on time or not? Look at empty slots? There's between none and 20 every day. That's not much help is it? Look at the pile of packets and guess. That's about it.
