OPG sacked Manager moved but another bully from the same mould will replace him!BarnsleyLackey wrote:Lincox wrote:Sadly Brandy, Royal Mail do not include People Management in their training of Managers. These people are thrown in to the job, just as delivery staff are now thrown in to the job without training, and they are held to account by their senior managers. Their only remit is to get all work done at any cost and without doubt they are given their instructions on how to achieve this from above. It is an utter disgrace and in my opinion is nearly as bad as the sex scandal that is going on, the way staff are being treated by the despicable management.
The sex scandal is small fry in RM terms. We've had a cheeky chappy dismissed, and re-instated. All tied up with a nice bow - He won't be back here again.
Clearly RM value their managers' passion for pushing their workforce to breaking point, and are willing to turn a blind eye to any and all behaviours.
I really cannot wait to read the results of the punch-up that happened down south.

That's a nice philosophy to have, Brandy. But unfortunately, these line managers and DOMS are under the umbrella of the one above them. Though they mayBrandy wrote:Bullys always get their comeupance one way or another, and I wouldnt want to be in their shoes when it does!
be too stupid to see it, the one yanking their strings will replace them as soon as their nine lives run out. And so the cycle continues - offer a hungry fish
extra pay and bonuses, get him hooked, and you've got your own little stormtrooper.
I've witnessed a few over the years, who have moved up, then down again; the job proving too much. This usually gets them scorn from others, but I say "You
gave it a shot, saw what the job was, and came to your senses." Unfortunately, there are those who want to stay up, no matter what.

I agree with thatDGH wrote:What we need to start doing is standing up for colleagues who are being harassed about this kind of thing. We all need to, not just leave it to (often disinterested) union reps or to the people who are being so persecuted (who are often junior staff). If you hear a manager say something that isn't correct (like using the worktool to determine whether a walk is deliverable) then challenge them. It's hard and nobody likes confrontation but if you don't, sadly you're complicit.

This whole culture of fear within management is pure poison,I just wonder what managers say in there defence,it can’t be a fun job surely, why has it got like this, pressure from above I guess, they’ve really lost the plot and unaware what really happens within delivery units across the country.moral bashing and not a clue what goes on and what we’re up against,we rarely see our so called boss, not ideal in running two offices,10/minutes at ours and then away, left to get on with it,some say that’s a good thing, until things need decision making and managing then oh Lordy look out,I really despair, wtl tomorrow will no doubt be riveting no doubt,

That's usually me, although I don't 'argue' as such.......Dorset Plodder wrote:Very funny though when a particularly stroppy Posties refuses to go into his office and just argues with him, at high volume, on the shopfloor.
