I wouldn't get too excited about what you hear from Management, or see advertised online. The subject of Owner Drivers has come up before and apparently as one poster commented, We've had Owner Drivers for some time but they're used in a part of the Business us Posties don't normally have contact with. I'd try not to get too stressed about all this Bullshit that's flying about. You're on here so at least you can get some accurate information from those that know (p.s not me).
