if not Tell them to bring the planners in..
1) The planners normally haven't got a clue about your area, don't assist them in any way, let them mess it all up and then you can make a deal to put it right.
2) the planners can only put in information given to them,
So in short, dont do a table to revision.
Dont assist planners.
Wait so you can whine about the results.
Well that sounds like a great plan...........
And when it fails it's not down to the union, it's down to RM.
We had a revision forced in our office a few years ago, they changed our times of attendance and changed our 4 day week to a 5 day week, within a month Dsm reached an agreement with area rep, to reinstate the 4 day week and put deliveries back how they were, brains behind the idea was dumped and now waiting to retire in a mail centre
So in short, you want nothing to change.
Honestly with this mindset we are simply doomed.
Get involved, make the revision work. if your input is ignored, then so be it and the business can reap what it sows.
However having seen a fully involved revision work (well pretty much) its madness to follow your mindset.
its where full timers cherry pick bits of duties they fancy and leave the shite to the part timers
There's only one way to sort it out...........FIGHT!! And trust me that could well happen, good luck with it,and seeing how fair you can get it,no doubt you will end up with a them and us office, which makes for everyone getting on all hunky dory..NOT!!
As we can only judge by personal experience I'd go for the Table Top Revision over the Planners Choice. I've been in two DOs that had a "Planned" Revision and after wasting a lot of Time, Good Will & probably Money both Offices reverted back to the old system (with a bit of Re-Jigging)!
Luckily most Duties had just put their "Old" Shelf Edges into a drawer and just put them back on. The people that had binned theirs were not very happy teddies.
We're due a table Top Revision in my latest DO and I believe the point already made: About asking the reserves. Is a very valid one. We had a "Company Man" (who was pushing to become a Manager) helping out with a previous Revision. Basically he had done most of the Duties as a Reserve but he just stitched us up........ "You can put another hour on that duty...... That duty needs more ....Oh you can do that duty in time, it's not that big"
Like all Wage Slaves, he had two crosses to bear: The people he worked for and the people he worked with! (Stephen Vizinczey.)
