or not in the pension ? , I think that's going to be a problem of a massive % of a yes vote if or when it was balloted on , posties not willing to lose money on something that doesn't concern them so I can understand people suggesting other options , work to rule .

you go on strike Tuesday clear it Wednesday . happen last time. work to rule, no coming in an hour before your time or finishing an hour after your time, yes we all know some people do it for whatever reasons. take your break and no overtime , I think that is work to rule which sounds better.

Yes, yes and yes. Could have left the business 15 years ago. But the pension was the deciding factor and stopped me. Once, if, Royal Mail close OUR pension scheme, what will stop them attacking our terms and conditions that we fought so hard for over the years! This will just be the start. If we don't make a stand now, our union , and more importantly us, the members will be finished . The only winners will be the fat cats in the city ( the share holders ) and the senior directors within this company. Everybody in this country , who has work hard, deserves a decent retirement income !

There is only one answer to this question, not only will the proposal lead to roughly 25% less to live on every week once you retire it also shockingly proposes that we increase our contributions by around 20% for the privilege of being poorer. It's a pay cut now as well as in the future.

The arrogance of the proposal is astounding and shows exactly what royal mail thinks of its staff, only a complete idiot would bury their head in the sand and think this won't affect them, if they get a free ride on this you can kiss goodbye to the legal protections due for renewal in 2018. We'll be laughed out of the negotiating room.

Yes it sucks, but don't label it as just royal mail. Just about every company is doing it as well as the NHS. We all screwed I'm afraid.

I today received my pension statement from RM.

Before £18,224 After £14,264 at 65 years old and having to pay in an extra £4.54 a week for the privilege!!!
and for that we get £750 one time lump sum!!

£4000 a year worse off and paying £236 a year extra for 20 years ( £4720 )

F*** OFF ROYAL MAIL do I look stupid!!

the Union will get around the table and put a counter offer or I can see a ballot for industrial action.
no one wants to strike and lose money BUT better to lose a small amount now ( which you will make up on OT as the mail still needs to be delivered ) than lose a hell of a lot later in life.

IF industrial action is called for and agreed by Ballot I hope that we all go out this time.

the union will call for different sectors to strike on separate days ( Deliveries, Collections, Mail Centres, Distribution, Managers ( yes even they will get shafted ) on a rolling basic to cause maximum disruption while minimum pay loss to individuals.
IF we stand together we can win this battle, IF we don't we will all end up poor in later life.

DON'T SELL YOUR SOUL FOR £750!

Correct.

I'm surprised how many idiotic comments by people who don't see this.

Work to rule or overtime ban won't work either. I'm happy with 39 hours a week.I don't want or need anymore. But there are guys on 25 hours in my office who regularly do overtime to bring them up to the 39 hour mark or thereabouts.

Why are these guys going to take a cut for something that doesn't involve them.

Quick question for the foolish comments. How hard are you trying to get these part timers on full time contracts like the rest of us? Because as far as I can see there's a lot of older served posties looking for the newer ones to help them on this issue but how many are trying to help those newer guys on getting the same terms as what we already have

I'm on the dc scheme. I voted yes. It might not affect me as much as others right now but it will at some point in the future once RM decide they need to save more money and set their sights on t&c's. Also, what's the point of being in the union if you don't stand up and be counted?

Yes, but we need to be careful. Don't forget we have about 40,000 (or whatever) fewer employees than a decade ago so this means less money go to pension funds, so it can't be sort of money. What is needed some compromise. ie all D2D money after 20 pounds can be used for pension. We don't need cuts, what we need is a vision to expand and increase income and cut down management wastes and schemes.

Although I'm in the DC scheme I'd vote 'yes'. The Pensionator can only be stopped in its tracks if we are united. Or a combative, time travelling soldier from the future might help, but they can't make those things yet..not for about 40 years. :thumbup

Yes time to stand up and be counted should of done this first time round and may be we wouldn't be in this mess. Our pension is for us to have some dignity in retirement and not for Royal Mails big profits and keeping the fat cats in there multi million pay and pension pots Haven't seen anything about cutting at the top?
