We used to have visits from schools to Mount Pleasant. The kids were taken round by guides (I was one) and shown how the mail was processed. They were taken down to see the Mail Rail (the underground miniature railway that carried mail 6.5 miles under London to five sorting offices and Paddington and Liverpool St railway stations) - that was the most popular bit of the tour. The younger the kids the more interested and enthusiastic they were.
But now Mail Rail has been closed down, as have three of the Mail Centres that used to be on it - ECDO, WDO, and EDO. And Paddington DO is due to be shut next year. Mount Pleasant will be the only one left.
We don't have school visits any more. Apparently the insurance wouldn't cover any accidents that might happen.

EDO aint closed just moved... There still is a collections DP and A DO.... The mech and work has gone to E3 Bromley by bollox.. Ohh sorry Bromley by bow locks.... Honest...

ps.. My old mate Teddy used to work the Mail rail... Luvly little job as well... Like his own world down there... Called him and his mate THE TUNNEL RATS... He took EVR just as they shut the train down... Sadly...
