Anyone seeing drugs in parcels they are delivering?

Seriously anyone thinking on sending drugs through the post needs a refund on their failed lobotomy.

Royal Mail have machines that scan suspicious packages, they train certain people to identify possible drug packets. We have our own internal police force who have a successful record of prosecution.

Here are some examples.

Technically speaking though, it can't really be proved that there's been a sale or a purchase with packets of drugs....unless the dealer has been really stupid and stuck a receipt or something in the packet :left:

Having been a naughty student in the past and having a couple of mates in the police, it's fair to say that the bobbies just aren't fussed about someone having a quarter of weed, in all honesty I bet they'd rather we just delivered these stinky jiffy bags to save them the ballache of having to destroy it and issue a simple warning.

Myself and a friend actually got pulled up once for having open cans of cider on the street (Frosty Jack's too, we're classy  ). To say we were stinking of weed is an understatement, and my friend actually had some on him. The bobby asked us if we'd been smoking and if we had any, we told him yes. He gave us an on the spot fine for the drinking, but he didn't even confiscate the weed never mind give us any sort of official warning for it!

We had a few items like that stinking of weed a few years ago.
I reported them to the DOM who rang IB - they said why worry as far as RM are concerned they've paid to send something through us so just deliver it.

We also had a customer who would get about 20-30 parcels about the size of a breeze block each week. They were sent from China and the customs label would describe the contents as anything from a coffee table to an umbrella. Strange as all the parcels were identical in shape and weight. Turned out it was rolling tobacco being smuggled in.
IB came and had a look and just said to deliver them as the postage had been paid !!

They added it was a customs issue and if they hadn't pulled the items up when they handled them then it was nothing to do with us.

We had one a few weeks ago. One of the posties could smell it but no-one else was convinced. He went over to the frame of drop bags (probably 50 bags) and smelt every one until he zeroed in on one bag. Then took it to a corner, emptied out the entire bag and checked every parcel until he found one that stank of weed. Yes, some soapy git had ordered his drugs online. Police were called and took the parcel away.

It's not necessarily people ordering them online, it's very often someone who has a mate elsewhere sending them. No paper/digital trail that way. Not that I'd know anything of these matters anyway
