Christmas is coming, is there a plan in place ?

It's getting to that time of year again where it pays to do the job by the book and show how laughable the duty structures are, leaving at least a row back in the depot and still going over.

The plan is to coax us all into rushing around as we do in the summer, picking mail from the current bundle as we walk instead of standing still, so we complete everyday with perhaps 1 hour overtime at worst.

Rather than the reality being many duties can go 2+ hours over if you take your breaks; use equipment correctly; filter correctly etc.

I won't be staying out in the dark and cold to complete for anyone.

Never any extra bodies put into our office to help on delivery. Just into the mail centres to sort it and send out to us to deliver. Now if we can see a flaw in this plan surely RM can ?

We have been pushed and pressured into more lapsing this year than ever before.

A shock will come at Xmas though. Because there are plenty in my office who will remember the pressure we've been put under this year. The goodwill is well and truly gone. We used to go over every Xmas knowing that during the summer months we'd have a decent time of it.

But not anymore and that will be reflected in the amount of people cutting off over the next few months.

I think that staff in DOs sometimes forget that MCs have outward mail as well as inward mail to deal with and only the larger MCs will have the room to store and process both

There isn't a plan for any other time of the year,except of course "summer lapsing", when it is supposedly quieter,so why have one for the busiest time of the year? Christmas catches Royal Mail out every year.

Still doesn't alter the fact that we don't get any extra help to deliver the huge increase, all the help goes into the MCs.

Just been told today in my office that i am on packets over christmas 1pm till 8pm. With alternate days off tuesday saturday. At least i don't have to walk the streets in the rain

I would not fancy delivering to some estates and high rise blocks in the dark, how about poorly lighten basement flats very dangerous still you will get a torch. You do know that you still get soaked lol. I did not think you could be told you had to work a split shift I would not do it on safety grounds.
