Union should not have agreed anything without listening to the postal workers input on this first. We are not getting extra money for delivering them, this week will be one of the only few weeks where DOMs won't give the Joey's a Tuesday off as they normally do. Plan of action will be no lapsing and don't come back early...

Why should we get extra money for them? as a membership rightly or wrongly we voted to accept an agreement to not be paid for d2d any longer, the union have already got our "permission" to not ask for extra payment for d2d
We still get a door to door payment we got paid for polling cards which to me is classed a door to door and they were lighter so what's the difference?
polling cards are proper addressed mail,
nothing like a normal households where someone can just throw them onto a cage to be returned like on the lapsed duties :left:

royal mail don't provide the cash to pay us for poll cards or election material, also I believe you will find rm has a statutory obligation to deliver election material

Maybe all the workers from the mail centres who voted for the abolition of d2d payments, to get their 30 pieces of silver, will earn their ill gotten gains and come to the Delivery Offices next week and help deliver them. They are to blame for delivery staff loosing thousands of pounds since the d2d payment ceased.

voting numbers were clear it was voted in by delivery members, even taking mail centre votes out of the equation it was still voted in, delivery staff voted it in not mail centre staff

How can you know this. Votes are surely counted all the same nobody knows if a vote comes from a mail centre worker or delivery staff.

simple there is not enough staff in mail centres to turn it from a vote for to a vote against, I will look out the post on it but basically the vote was something like 100k difference between for and against and only 40k work in mail centres so even if every single one changed from for to against it would still have been voted through by the weight of delivery staff voting for it, and even then that would be assuming every mail centre staff voted for it

I stand to be corrected. In my DO there were nearly 150 staff who all swore blind that they never voted for the end of D2D payments.

here's the post from TBT explaining how delivery voted it in with the numbers
TBT wrote:The only people who get a Delivery Supplement are those within the Delivery Function. In my office Collection, only staff don't get it.

Now if by "Indoor staff" you mean Callers, DOM Support and Locker - well in every individual DO they are outnumbered by Outside Workers so they couldn't tip the balance from a No to a Yes unless more than 50% of the office also voted with them.

However, if by Indoor staff you mean MC workers. Well, unfortunately even that doesn't work. With well over 100,000 members working in this part of the Royal mail business (Delivery), it remains the single largest group of members within the CWU.

The CWU has 199,443 members, if they were all allowed to voteon an agreement Solidarity within the Delivery Function would ALWAYS carry the vote.

Do I agree with the delivery supplement and the change to D2Dpayments - No - I voted against the 2010 Agreement that introduced it, I still think it was wrong. But people who agree with me have to stop peddling this line that it was voted in by "Indoor Staff" - it wasn't. It was accepted largely because members decided not to return their ballot papers, and for those that did, even in Deliveries, a Majority of them voted Yes.

117,000 ballots were sent out of which 100,000 were in delivery (see above). If all the 17,000 others voted Yes - you would still need 25,000 in delivery to support them to reach the total Yes votes of 42,023. In fact, only 21,820 voted No (I was one).

So even in Delivery in the best case scenario, the "No's" were out voted by 3,000. The simple reason, if there was one, why 2010 got accepted, it was because Delivery members didn't take the time to return their ballot papers even though it was as easy as dropping it on the IPS frame at work.

I might be the only one in the country but given that the Delivery Supplement is paid when I am on holiday and when I am off sick, and given that some weeks last summer I had maybe an average of 1 D2D, I don't think I have lost any money since the D2D payment ceased.
So thank you to the Mail Centre staff. :left:

With the elections coming up in May and June the Union should be pushing for the Pay talks to be concluded and an offer made. :whistle
