Re: MRM:With your Neighbour slips
Exactly, some people do not want to be disturbed in order to take next doors parcels for them.
Who will take parcel for a neighbour was something that traditionally was slowly found out by the postie.
Customers need to advise RM that parcels can be left with a neighbour and which one.
There is a service for this in place. If a customer requests it, thats fine, otherwise they will receive a 739 and will have to collect it themselves or ask for it to be re-delivered.
RM wants 100% parcel delivery success rate - an unrealistic target in the realistic world.

Re: MRM:With your Neighbour slips
A porch is not a secure place to leave any mail, including D2D. Any mail should be left in a place where only the occupant can retrieve it when you leave, unless their main door is ajar, in which case you can leave items just over the main door threshold. If there is no secure place, including D2D, endorse the mail as such and take it back to the depot.fb1969 wrote:I went to a house with a Special yesterday and there was a sign on the door "please leave parcels in the porch, if a signature is required do NOT go to number 11". Too many people may not like their neighbour so I rarely go to one.
Special Delivery and international signature items must not be left with neighbours, end of.
It is our responsibility to comply with the security protocol in place by RM, regardless of notes at delivery points or "safeplace" instructions on items. Breach them to keep recipients sweet at your peril.

Re: MRM:With your Neighbour slips
A couple of years back, BT helpfully sent out a D2D that looked a lot like an oversize P739. The number of customers I had chasing me down the straight saying "You never even rang the doorbell!" was surprising large, and the number of times you had to repeat "It's not a you-where-not-in card, it's advertising from BT" to each of them before they understood you wasn't exactly a low number either!Shaders wrote:How difficult is it to read a 739 card? ... and let's not even get started on the ones who don't bother to read surcharge notices, which aren't even the same colour as P739s!
Having a different card is in theory a good idea, but in practice it just makes our job more complicated for no real benefit and probably slightly increases the Royal Mail's costs.

Tonytucker... maybe time for you to find another job pal
Leaving parcels on doorsteps ain't professional, ain't right and if you are caught doing it it's unlikely the Union would defend you and you'll be out of a job. There really is no place in this business for sloppy posties...and liars

Re: MRM:With your Neighbour slips
I'm not defending his attitude, but that precise thing has happened to me before - I've left a packet with a neighbour and then found it doorstepped the next day. There's only so much you can do while trying to do the job properly - sometimes it is actually impossible!

What a waste of time, effort & money when it is already on the 739 that we have now!

Re: MRM:With your Neighbour slips
cool, tell that to the 3 people that I know of in my office who have lost their job for repeatedly doing this, but carry on if you think its a good idea, when the time comes (and it always does, even if its the 1 in 10,000th time) that someone says they didnt get it or complain that its been left out then enjoy explaining it to the manager and hope hes in a forgiving mood.tonytucker wrote:Just carry on doorstepping,if they moan say left it with neighbour and they door stepped it,more important things to worry about

Re: MRM:With your Neighbour slips
This will add more time because it would be pointless to start filling out a p739 or these slips until you know who will be taking it or not. Don't have time for delivery to neighbour mostly anyway.

Re: MRM:With your Neighbour slips
Makes me laugh this, RM want delivery first time every time to save money on redelivery.
Easy, stop offering a free redelivery service, then you won't need to keep coming up with these stupid time wasting ideas, and if customers know they are going to be charged for redelivery they may even find a way of getting it delivered first time.
