Going out on and coming back on the vans is the best way to protect jobs. Not only does it give a massive feeling of togetherness for postmen/women ,but it really pisses managers off because they have to do the extra work it creates. This has only highlighted all the extra work we used to do for free ,and should be used as a lever to give better pay and conditions for postmen/women.ENJOY the solidarity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if the union itself doesnt wake up to the fact that we all need to go out on the vans and stop coming in early. then it will be to late. not only will our jobs be gone but so will theirs. i dont think they will have many part timers willing to part with £2.70 a week. we have been our own worst enemy. job and knock is great but now we can all see for ourselves that if we carry on the jobs will go. every morning we have the same morons coming in and finishing early. every morning i tell them theyre morons whats happened to our union why arnt they doing something.

The lates have not picked up the OT to drive them. :Applause

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

I extra manager,2 extra vans, and 4 of our drivers pulled off their walks to do the dropping off and pouching.
3 cluster reserves and one casual oh and another manager later on.
No one knew what they were doing, and there was no pouch keys
I heard later as i had already been dropped out thats some said they were gonna cut off and all hell broke loose, arguments in the office apparently, which made the others go out late,so more cutting off's will happen.
Dom threatened that no vans were allowed to bring the car users back to the office,i think that got sorted after another row.

Rumour is no more exec action in SE Lon for a while, will prob find out for sure Friday.

Fares

Post by johnnyp »

Totaly agree %100 with the on the vans thread people BUT in our office which is right bang in the middle of clapham approx 10 walks get fares on there duties, anything from £5-£15 a week,so i cant see them on the vans, also the rest of the duties are 5-10 minutes walk from the office so it counts them out.All the other issues are standard anyway and people should be doing these no matter what.An excellent campaign postman BUT i would like to see the NATIONAL UNION running a similar thing and ENCOURAGEING %100 COOPERATION across the membership.

I agree with johnnypick, this should be picked up on nationally just like the "work your proper hours day" a couple of months back

We have to pay our bus fares in our DO but we can claim back - It may wind the office staff up but this part of on the vans thread could mean everyone make sure they claim the bus fare back. In our office we can claim out to walks and back to office. If everyone did it on a weekly basis this would cost them more money in the administration of paying and claiming it.

Well done for this thread POSTMAN :Applause :Applause I hope it encourages a few more offices to get on board. Since the "1 week on the vans" in the ST area ,3 of the offices(all over 100 staff) have now adopted it as a permanent way of working with almost 100% support and are now enjoying it, as you've noticed yourself it's a lot more relaxed. :Applause :Applause
