It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

if you try and select the safeplace option on the PDA with those kind of items it wont even let you do it, thats a big enough clue right there !hammer69 wrote:Thought so, will have the pleasure of telling him he's wrong..POSTMAN wrote:No,it isn't right.hammer69 wrote:Our manager said we are allowed to sign for the Signature Tracked items then safeplace it, surely this can't be right?

Ask to be given official RM persuasion training next Tuesday for 30mins WTLL.wotashitjob wrote:I tried 6 houses the other day.3 were out the other 3 said no cus shes a bitch(fair enough).manager says you have to persuade the neighbours.i'm gonna get on my knees and beg next time and give them my puss in boots eyes lol.
What happens if you bring back Tracked but you only have enough time to deal with non-delivered items before official contract hours home time (taking account of your paid outdoor meal relief)?

Re: Going back out with Tracked
This tracked and deliver to neighbour is becoming a real B&H issue. We are told to try to deliver to neighbour but at the same time when u try to authorise your overtime you are grilled that the mail is light. All delivery spans need revisited/adjusted taking into account DTN. Will they do this? No just keep on harassing the posties come on CWU why did u agree to this DTN without making sure the delivery spans were adjusted? Something needs to be done because guys are gonna feel pressurised and someone is gonna get sacked for leaving a parcel in an unsecure location.....maybe that is part of the managements gameplan!

Re: Going back out with Tracked
What % of first time delivery are your managers asking for? We hit 95%+ all the time as an office and I never try more than 3 houses, usually just one or two.

They can ask for whatever % they want, but surely this just boils down to who is in.
This really is f***ing pathetic from them.

Re: Going back out with Tracked
What im saying is we hit 95% without a great deal of extra effort, we certainly don't go knocking all over the road or get quizzed when we bring one back.POSTMAN wrote:They can ask for whatever % they want, but surely this just boils down to who is in.

It sounds like either some offices are asking for 100% (which is impossible) or people haven't been trying to get rid at all (as plenty have said on here) and are now getting hit for it.

Re: Going back out with Tracked
This is fine in an area when Mr Jones is out, you leave it with Mr Smith but I know areas where every house has been converted into 12 bedsits and I could knock on the neighbour's door but I'd have no idea who I had left the parcel with.OnAFlyer wrote:What % of first time delivery are your managers asking for? The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

how does DTN work when the whole road has houses with 15 to 30 metre steep driveways?

Re: Going back out with Tracked
No they don't like to take them back. Mum answered the door to one on monday.. Refused the packet because it was not her name (her address tho ) and unknown to her. He then walked down the garden and put it in her blue bin. She followed him and gave it back. My Old Ma is almost 80 years old and don't need that agro. She takes RM packets for the entire street as she feels somehow she is doing me a favour. The neighbours turn up after 10pm sometimes to collect them.Kings Norton wrote:Its a tool they are using to take work off Hermes and Yodel as they have first class delivery rate, they get paid 50p approx per packet and if they have to redeliver on another day the one 50p payment stands this why these two company's never bring back tracked packets.
