had this in our office, flagged it up to area & div rep & was soon squashed as i was told this was not agreed & our members do not have to do it.

Hmm that true then? We have a similar form and not a word against it oh and my walk and a few others are on the managers hit list as the worst performing

yes its true & its your reps job to question things like this. Get on to your rep to ask the questions & if he is not happy he should get onto the area rep & so on, speaking for my office, there is no time to do these sorts of things as the jobs are way too big already.

Half our office left the union because the rep is so bad. When delivery to neighbour was mentioned it was the workers who asked about time being allocated for it, same as when collections from postboxes was mentioned. The only thing the rep ever fights for is work taken off his own delivery. When it's lapsing time, he does none. No one is interested in running for the rep job either because of how low an opinion everyone has of the Union.

Any battles in the office have been fought and won without the rep and in some cases he has even actively sided with management (even against Union members)

So you would sooner all whinge and moan but do feck all about it.Good grief.

You're right, it's not difficult but no one wants it. Meanwhile lets sweep under the carpet the real issue that crops up here time after time. Some reps are in it for themselves. . . Anything to get a cushy life and lots of mutual back scratching going on between rep and manager. I don't blame anyone for not wanting to come up against that.

First of all he did actually state that the members do stick up for themselves and do get things done, just with no help from the rep and secondly it's a blatant copout by the union to turn everything around on the members who individually and collectively pay for a service they don't get.

What goes down in some offices by reps is nothing short of a disgrace and it's not good enough for the union just to wash its hands and leave it up to a disillusioned, divided and understandably apathetic membership to clean it up.

These are CWU reps and what they do is done in the name of the union, It's long past time some accountability was brought to bear on these corrupt branches being run as personal social clubs for the chosen few and these reps in position purely to protect themselves and their mates.

Couldn't agree more, to much pressure but on local reps, to many reps left to fight issues with very little if any backup or help. I've never met anyone higher than area rep in 20 years at RM.
