not having time to deliver to a neighbour is a good enough reason. we took 17 packets back today after putting the last letter in at 15.05...25 MINS over our last letter time....if we'd tried neighbours on those packets we would be looking at an hour or longer over our time. their demands are simply unacceptable. forced overtime.

completely the wrong attitude, you should be doing your job properly and letting your managers have the problem if it adds time to your duty, if its going to add time to your duty and you insist on getting your duty tested you should find your duty being adjusted and then possibly some part time members of staff getting extra hours on their contracts, this i'm alright jack attitude is not helping anyone
as i have said in the past, if people are refusing to do it on security issues then i will back them all the way but for people who just point blank refuse to do the job properly to save time then you are ruining the job for everyone else
no i am not a dom and please dont accuse me of being one again.
and as i said i will back anyone in regards to security issues but you said you wouldnt do it simply because you dont have time nothing to do with the safety of the item
the issue isnt whether a parcel goes missing or not, the issue is you wont do it because it takes more time which is a poor attitude to have
i will back any of my colleagues if they have issues with this
actually you should read your own posts, you said "I 739 it and don't bother trying a neighbor.I ain't got time." no mention what so ever about it going missing in that first statement its only when you were challenged on it you have changed your tune, just that you didnt have time thats whats the poor attitude

If I delivered to neighbour on my round I wouldn't finish it so don't bother.
Not that it makes any difference any way as I stop at my finishing time

My initial post was quick one sentence answer that I never expanded on...but your right it's a terrible attitude I have..I'm a dick. It's not on purpose.RM made me this way with their nasty planning of PARK AND LOOP.All posties are liars and Geo route is correct and it's not up for debate.Witnessed many of my workmates go of sick with stress because of the pressure put on them.(eventually the duties were shortened but we were never offered an apology) RM is the one employer where the bigger the dick you act the less work you do.It's the only employer I have worked for where, managers are constantly trying to screw over staff. You'd think we worked for rival firms.zx135 wrote:cyrus wrote:No, the issue is if the parcel goes missing or not, work all your paid hours. If a RM want to bring in a new standard that puts the posties job at risk,it ain't my problem.zx135 wrote:cyrus wrote:...but why are you backing people? Re: [POLL] - How much extra time on your walks does DTN use.
this only applies to posties who have their own regular duty,
but surely you'll have been delivering to neighbours well before it became standard, probably because they already know you or are good tippers.
i regularly bypass the intended without even knocking, i can pop at card in saying "at #?" sometimes they come after me, but never complain, more often compliment
tracked items have stretched it a bit with trying different neighbours but that can save you time long term as you now know who'll take anything
any "iffy" areas then card them without trying, any decent manager
will understand or tell him to go pass it on to the smack head neighbour himself!
i know some posties who act like the worlds against them, the job is getting a lot harder and i get totally pi55ed off at times
just take a deep breath and think "i could always be in a days/afters/nights mind numbing factory"

Poorly planned and unachievable deliveries, bullying and harassment, non-payment of genuine overtime, reserves getting screwed over, lapsing based on budget and savings and we're expected to save the business with these new flexible Royal Mail delivery standards?
lol.
lol.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Doesn't always work this way though. If I ever have to cut off, you can almost guarantee that the mail brought back will be waiting on the fitting the next day to go out again, and it builds up and up until I do the overtime or we just get a lighter day and it gets done.zx135 wrote:completely the wrong attitude, you should be doing your job properly and letting your managers have the problem if it adds time to your duty, if its going to add time to your duty and you insist on getting your duty tested you should find your duty being adjusted and then possibly some part time members of staff getting extra hours on their contracts, this i'm alright jack attitude is not helping anyone
I can either advise them which if anything helps secure jobs in the callers office, or I try DTN (and after wasting time knocking other doors will almost certainly only have to advise them anyway), and I bring them back undelivered in which case I'm only putting more stress on myself.

Warning: Please read the rules - in 1post you broke 2 of them. http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/community/rules.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
1. Calling him a jobsworth: Please do not in any circumstances resort to name calling or behaviour that could be deemed as bullying or harassment.
2. Suggesting he is a DOM - Just because someone has a different viewpoint or political position to you, it does not mean that they are a 'Manager' or a 'Union fanatic', any posts making such assumptions or generalisations will be pulled or amended and the poster warned.
Please debate, rather than name call.

Re: [POLL] - How much extra time on your walks does DTN use.
I find it a bit frustrating that (in my experience) those posties who often accuse others of 'cutting the job up' and 'being runners' regularly seem to be the ones who refuse to attempt neighbours because it takes more time.
Surely the job as it stands now is that the postie is supposed to try neighbours, so those who refuse to do so are now the ones 'cutting the job up' and making the duty look more achievable than it really is?

Re: [POLL] - How much extra time on your walks does DTN use.
nah,,,i refuse to do so BECAUSE it makes the duty ''unachievable''. if you knock at a neighbour it effectively means you are going to at least 3 doors. the original recipient...the neighbour...then back to the original recipient to put the 739 in, if the neighbour isn't in. 4 doors if you go to 2 neighbours as they would have us do. forget it. not doing it.wannabeek wrote:I find it a bit frustrating that (in my experience) those posties who often accuse others of 'cutting the job up' and 'being runners' regularly seem to be the ones who refuse to attempt neighbours because it takes more time.

You're better off doing it, then cutting off. If everyone does this, it'll at least make the managers think...and work.
