I think
royal mail is going downhill fast ,,the future is bleak and the future share price will reflect this
in 2 years time TNT will be sorting and delivering all the mail from all DSA customers in every City in Great Britain
Amazon will be delivering its own packets and parcels
Mailcentres will be empty
Delivery Offices will attempt to survive on door to door items
Royal Mail will then be taken over by a company like TNT or Amazon
The share price will rocket
and those shrewd postmen who invested in the SAYE scheme will make a massive profit
and will have a part time job on less than the minimum wage hourly rate
ANNOUNCEMENT : ALL OF ROYAL MAIL'S EMPLOYMENT POLICIES (AGREEMENTS) AT A GLANCE (Updated 2021)... HERE

1. The whole reason the ConDems privatised Royal Mail via a Stock Market flotation was because they had already explored the option of selling to a rival postal operator (e.g.TNT, DHL) but could not find a buyer with the either the financial muscle, or one who was prepared to pay a price the government would accept. Plus of course, some potential buyers would have been blocked by the EU under anti-competetive regulations.
2. Why would amazon set up their own delivery company AND then go on to purchase Royal Mail? If they planned to takeover Royal Mail, they would not piss money away on setting up their own delivery network. One thing amazon absolutely do not do, is incur unneccesary costs. They are focussed on profit above all else!

Amazon may be a big company but I doubt they have financial muscle to buy Royal Mail. It is probably too expensive.
