Next prediction under £3.30 when RM workers can sell.

Workers conned again.
how exactly were we conned?

Maybe conned isn't the right word. But will our shares be worth more than £3.30 or less??? Our shares will continue to dip because RM know most workers will sell.

Rm don't control the share price, the market determines the value of the shares

As I mentioned in another thread, I'm convinced the biggest reason for the drop in the share price is due to our own CEO and board taking every opportunity they can to constantly say what a bad prospect RM is and how the company is doomed due to competition... it's certainly a very bizarre business strategy that they seem to have adopted.

I'm sure it's not helping but I don't know how else they can highlight the problem and the urgent need to address it and particularly gain the attention of politicians without making the issue public. If it isn't addressed the share price will go a lot lower yet and that isn't in anyone's interest.

You don't technically own any shares and you cannot deal in them until the three years are up. They are held in SIP (trust) until the 3 years are up. The price reflects the confidence in the financial markets by the BIG BOYS, ie the main share holders as to whether the current board are up to the job. The price will also fluctuate as to the daily dealing on the London Stock exchange (FTSE 100). :cuppa

What's so magic about £3.30 unless you actually paid for them at that price?
We may not have to pay for them in hard cash, but believe me we are paying for them in blood sweat and tears.

certainly seems to have shut up the 'RM were sold off to cheaply' brigade

gosh you don't think that's why we are being downtalked by our esteemed leaders - to artifically lower the share price and get their chums who sorted the sale off the hook do you

crazy idea I know :-)

That doesn't make any sense. What does that have to do with a share price of £3.30.. If the price goes down to £3.29 you won't have lost anything.

The £3.30 figure is significant because that was the opening price, and the price RM employees potentially would have sold their shares at on the day were they allowed.

As it stands waiting 3 years the share price could very well drop lower than this, therefore we lose out.

Since the employee share offer was a price the Government felt they had to pay in order to bring the staff on board and allow the smooth transition of the Postal Services act the staff have earned those shares in exactly the same way that management would receive a loyalty bonus, in the same way you might pay a premium to a quality tradesman to secure their services, in the same way you might tip a decent waiter £20 to make sure he doesn't spit in your soup next time you eat out.

Now if it turned out you slipped the waiter a fake £20 would you risk eating in that restaurant again?

The market value of the shares we received was measured at the closing mid-price of the Company’s shares on 15 October 2013 which was 489 pence per share not 330p.

Not really a fair comparison unless you expect the shares to have no value at all by the time they can be sold. In which case you'll have more to worry about than the share price. To use the your analogy you might tip the waiter anything between £1 and £20. Obviously he is going to prefer the biggest amount possible but however much it is he will still have more than he started with. And to be slightly provocative, how much he gets will, at least in part, depend on how well he does his job.
