I went through a privatisation before and have said many times that the union will agree to anything in order to be at the table - which to my mind is pointless for the members because the aims and ambitions are not one and the same.BoltonPostie wrote:Which just goes to show you what a load of f***ing cock the last agreement was...legal protection...yes for some, all the rest can f**k off.

Yeah, the runners are perfectly happy on their F/T contacts, finishing early everyday still getting paid while they are sat at home feet up. Well it wont go on forever, a time will come when they'll look back and wish they had worked to time! This selfish attitude has really got to stop now. Think yourself lucky if you've got a permanent contract, and don't abuse it by going home early!

They will never stop it seems.
In our office they've heard that there's revision and they've got more put on their duties so they've been moaning to the rep about it but they still come in early, skip breaks, and run around!

I don't know how true this rumour is but very recently I heard that the HCT duties may well be at an end and that they will be replaced with P&L duties because of the influx of packets/parcels and the fall off of mail. I obviously can't comment on other offices but ours has less than 20 HCTs and I can see the advantages of it because there would not be a necessity for bulk duties and we would save possibly 6 because the large excess packets they take would be incorporated into the P&L duties - the story is not quite so simple because other duties would need to be created in order to absorb the bulk duties - but I can see a loss of staff.

Just been sent this
Hull & East Riding AMAL
Within some areas of the Division RM have informed CWU reps that they intend to formally write out to individuals informing them that they intend to revert some temporary staff to their contractual hours. If you are one of these individuals then speak to your rep and put in an individual grievance. Your rep will also lodge in a disagreement. However I do have to remind everyone that these intentions by RM are partly due as a result of individuals not doing the job properly! Starting / Finishing early, not using the correct tools for the job, not taking your meal relief, not working safely etc! Do Your Job Properly

Makes no sense. Why would they want to risk failing mail to save some pennies? Especially now on the run up to Christmas.

RM have never been known for making wise business decisions, take last years price hike on parcels as an example. At the moment they would sooner plough thousands of pounds into WCM than provide enough staff to run the operation properly - I belive it is a deliberate ploy to try an extract as much work rate as possible out of the frontline staff.norm wrote:Makes no sense. regardless what little plans etc the top knobs have , you have a start and finish time , that's my attitude now , just work my contracted hours per day and bring it back.

Its almost like there pushing and pushing all posties to the edge, so that we want strike action , then rm can turn around and say it was us that broke the agreement

Plus it gives them leverage on redefining the USO which is the big sticking point at the moment and for the future as I see it.spen wrote:Its almost like there pushing and pushing all posties to the edge, so that we want strike action , then rm can turn around and say it was us that broke the agreement

Glad i got my permanent contract sorted a few weeks ago now. Was sent a fixed term contract till next May after my 1st 6 months ran out but was meant to be a perm due to out revision. Talked to the DOM and he sorted the perm one, which is signed and sent back.

Re: Thousands of Postmen and women to lose their jobs!
those 10 that were made up to full time with p&l was this a temporary increase contract or were the given substantial fulltime contracts? If it was the latter & its a substantial change they cannot change them back to partime without a buydown & that would only be if the person wanted a buydown.worktotime wrote:this is not a wind up , its happening in our do , all temps with less than 2 years have been given 2 weeks notice (6), and all the staff who was made up to f/t with p&l have been told they will be back to there original 31 hr contracts within the next 2 weeks (10) which they have done for 4+ years , the dom also told them that the regular f/t staff will have to mop there indoor work up , I don't think so we will be finishing at 2 as from tomorrow no more o/t , everybody needs to do the job properly its all the early starters , runners , not using the correct equipment that's caused this , come on cwu what are we going to do about this one ?Jpro747 wrote:This is a wind up surely...Where did you hear about this?
Why would they do this when there are walks not even going out because we've clearly not got ENOUGH staff to shift it all?
