Dutch is the English counterpart of the Dutch words "Diets" and "Duits". In Dutch "Duits" means "German". Historically, the English did not distinguish inhabitants of the Low Countries by nationality. In the 15th and the first half of the 16th century, all persons from Germanic lands were called Flemings, Theotonici, Doch, or sometimes Germani. In the second half of the 16th century, all Germanic speakers were called Dutch or Douch.venger wrote:I hope you're making some sort of joke as Deutchland is Germany.Chelseablue wrote:Go back to Deutschland then !
So Dutch is Dutch for German and the only people who call the Dutch...Dutch are the English, and if you were really being pedantic TNT are niether Dutch nor do they need to go back to Federal Republic of Germany.
They come from the Nederland, are called Nederlanders and speak various regional variations of a language usually grouped together as Nederlands.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

I always thought TNT (Thomas Nationwide Transport or TNT) was an Australian company, then again its an age thing till I googled TNT history, ( http://www.tnt.com/corporate/history" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ). Also I was told it was a Polish guy who really pushed the company into a multi national company.
