Re: election material
The main problem would be that the election material is mostly unaddressed and produced by local candidates/party and paying for 1c 2c or DSA rates would be far higher than the d2d rates they currently get plus the payment to the postman, usually only flimsy leaflets that wouldnt stand a chance in a walk sequence machine, also no need to manually count them if you are delivering them to the whole walkSpacePhoenix wrote: The electoral commission or whatever they're called must have a central database of eligible voters, what ward they're in, polling station for that ward, etc. Why don't they post them all out centrally either 1c, 2C or if they must DSA, then payments could be centrally calculated and standardised, no manual counting of them and they'd all get walk sequenced

krussel wrote:Its up to you of course but if its unaddressed leaflets you can spread them over 7 days. Say you have 600 drops and take just 100 a day at the close you earn a extra £18 per contract. You could get 6 contracts which is £108 for no more work than D2D which pays a max of £21 supplement. Plus any poll cards you may deliver.terry2972 wrote:I didn't mean bin the material but te'll management that I didn't want to do it or am I obliged to do it
Its not bad money for light leaflets.
err £21 for d2d how do you figure that?

That's how it works in our office. If you don't wanna do them you don't have to. Plenty of people willing to do extra.daveyeff wrote:are you saying that we DONT have to deliver them,,,,its up to us wether we do them or not?? i beg to differ.hans solo wrote:election material completely voluntery you do not need to do them

They were meant to - it didn't work out it all came as crash sorting.SpacePhoenix wrote:They could for the poll cards at least.zx135 wrote:The main problem would be that the election material is mostly unaddressed and produced by local candidates/party and paying for 1c 2c or DSA rates would be far higher than the d2d rates they currently get plus the payment to the postman, usually only flimsy leaflets that wouldnt stand a chance in a walk sequence machine, also no need to manually count them if you are delivering them to the whole walkSpacePhoenix wrote: The electoral commission or whatever they're called must have a central database of eligible voters, what ward they're in, polling station for that ward, etc. Why don't they post them all out centrally either 1c, 2C or if they must DSA, then payments could be centrally calculated and standardised, no manual counting of them and they'd all get walk sequenced
Also with Poll Cards unless the sequence machines can count specific mail contracts you would still need to count them as most house had 2,3,4 and residential homes 30 and upwards

Re: election material
thats not what they are telling us...even the unaddressed ones are classed as live mail. same as d2ds are. what they ARE telling us is that we have a week to do them, even the addressed ones. its up to you if you want to do them all in one day, but you have to do them. someone has paid for them to be delivered. if that was the case, then what if everyone in the whole office decided NOT to do them. i think the wires have been crossed somewhere down the line.cweg wrote:That's how it works in our office. Well ok its not really but at the risk of not starting that debate off once again I was trying to put it in prospective as we used to get paid 1.67p per item.
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

You are the CWU. Get the download information from this site and approach your rep and ask for 6p. Then you have to back up the rep. Its a drawn out process but we achieved it and get 6p a drop now.
