It is not your job to find and make an alternative arrangement but your represenataive should be asking whether there is an employee currently working indoors at any unit within your area capable of performing delivery work? If so I would suggest it reasonable to make the adjustment by swapping roles.
Hi and thanks
I don't think anyone working in a mail centre would want to transfer to delivery, its a different world.
Sorry, this won't help but a parent on a 2 to 10, wanting to be home in the afternoon for the kids...? I'd think there'd be one or two.

There are four vacancies on nights going to be advertised in the next two weeks, I rang the operations manager at my office at 7.15 am this morning, he said to contact the union because it would be quicker, he went on to say, if there was a surplus on other shifts they would want to fill the vacancies internally and not from someone from outside the office but he would make enquiries. Does this sound fair?
Assuming that the Mail Centre is defined as a separate resourcing unit and there's no local agreement to the contrary then that's in line with the Way Forward agreement p29. I don't think that's been changed by any subsequent agreements but could be wrong on that one. I think that parts of the MTSF agreement might override the normal resourcing process though
Here's the text and the flowchart of how it should work:
14.3 The process for resourcing full time and part time, non-specialist posts will comprise one of four options, in the following order, unless agreed locally to change this order:
* internal advertisement of the job within the currently-recognised resourcing unit/s
* deployment of existing surplus employees
* the acceptance of an existing employee from the wider resourcing area or another resourcing area who has previously had his/her name placed on the transfer list for that resourcing unit
* external advertisement
Thanks for your help.
I can't see anything on the chart that relates to a disabled person being redeployed under the equality act. Surely this would take precedence ?
The Way Forward came in back in 2000 whereas the Equality Act didn't happen until around 2010. They could do with updating that flowchart and the text which goes with it
I've been on the sick for a month now, and I've ignored all letters and phone calls from my office about atos or anything, I just can't deal with anything right now, but I keep getting my pay checks every week?

Hi
I'm the same, the thought of dealing with management makes me extremely anxious (but I've had anxiety for years) I've started to have panic attacks, I've never had them before, I've had two in the early hours of the morning and they frighten the life out of me. I don't feel the same way about Atos, I've gotten great support from them.
quite simply from what you have stated regarding your Atos recommendation they need to find you indoor work as a reasonable adjustment, if they have not found you indoor work then you simply lodge a stage 1 disagreement with your dom, if he still doesnt find you work lodge a stage 2 disagreement with his line manager etc
if your getting no help from the union ignore them or go above them, they cant veto your transfer to the mc they dont have the power to do that, they can try but if RM dont follow the equalities act they would be in big trouble in a tribunal
Would be worth while contacting CWU HQ and speaking to or emailing Linda Roy, she is the person who is responsible for disability rights etc,

I've got an ISA Friday .
Thanks again
Well i would completely agree with zx135. The onus is on Royal Mail to sort something out, not you. While you've got inside information on comings and goings in the local MC, i would keep feeding it to your DOM to keep him on the ball in sorting the situation out.
I've had dealings with Linda Roy and can't praise her enough.

Hi
I got a call from the area rep today, he said there is no chance of getting in to the MC on any shift, he went on to say there was a duty that could be tailored to my needs, in a van on my own, he said the dom, me and the rep would sit down and agree and sign a plan when I was happy. He said there was a repick in a few months and I could see about an inside job then or stay on the tailored duty. Yesterday I put in a H1 email against my DOM and I got a call from the gateway team this afternoon, I am to hear from an external manager who will hear my case.

Tell the Area Rep concentrate their efforts on the Industrial Relations issues and let ATOS deal with Occupational Health issues.
