We got 1 guy who wouldnt give a door a bang but comes in early every day and gives Royal Mail over £500 a year for nothing! How many of these early starters would put £500 in their hand and burn it!!??

We have about ten early starters in our office of 50 and the earliest is our UNION REP and he never takes a break.

Though it then begs the question:Acca Dacca wrote: Most of them are doing t so they can get an earlier finish so it doesn't work like that
If they can start early, why isn't their start time earlier?
The start times and the workplan don't appear to be properly aligned.

Re: A stop to early starters
I start 15 mins early simply because if i leave my house 15 mins later i get stuck in traffic so i might as well be at work, but i do not actually do much in that 15min,usually just sign in and take a piss and grab a tray of mail..But i am full time at the moment (xmas) and i cannot believe some of these people come in 40 mins early! I get to work at 6.50-7.00 am and many have their d2d's and sequenced mail already thrown in and are cracking on with live mail.
I asked one of them how they have done it so quick and he said "because we are s**t hot" ..
Delusional.I called him a royal mail "volunteer" and walked away,i have no respect for them

If he's going to conduct anyone who come in early before their paid start time, does that mean he will also conduct people who work past their finish time and haven't had docket agreed?

Re: A stop to early starters
What exactly can you be "taken down the conduct code" for in this instance? If people want to start early, then fair enough, although I take your point about the £500. The point remains however, that it is their time and they can do what the hell they like with it,one would suggest,no one is being harmed,if they are sad enough to want to do it, good luck to them.
The other point is that manager's should not be "taking anyone down the conduct code". That is not what it is there for,it is there as a "corrective process". To threaten to take anyone anywhere,is bullying and harassment and it is about time this was taken seriously by this company and put a stop to once and for all. We all know that B+H like H+S is neither taken seriously ,nor acted upon ,only lip service is paid to both, however these are for a different thread.

Re: A stop to early starters
I have been religiously starting on time for quite a while now, whereas before I would start 10 minutes early just to give me a bit of breathing room on delivery. Having to cut off most days, during this festive period, I am surrounded by people who start early and also cut off! I can't quite get my head round that one

Re: A stop to early starters
We have guys come in early and are paid overtime to sort parcels. They seem to spend most of that time prepping their own frames.
This has the effect of making others appear slow when they come in at their proper start time; so they come in earlier too

And that is it in a nutshell, a very selfish act in reality. Very damaging for others.freelunch wrote:We have guys come in early and are paid overtime to sort parcels. They seem to spend most of that time prepping their own frames.
