Re: Cutting off
Does your D.O have people doing afternoon packets? Our posties are leaving all their big parcels and 2 drivers are delivering them in the afternoon. Not sure if this is the normal thing in all D.O but we certainly dont have shed loads of packets, we leave the big ones behind as long as we take the tracked and recorded

Only if you make management aware of the situation first by following the overrunning deliveries procedure and give them the opportunity to resource it in other ways.
If they refuse to do that then you are completely at liberty to bring back any work you cannot complete inside your contracted hours.
What you can't do is disappear out the door without saying a word to anyone and then bring back a stack of mail.
You won't be done for wilful delay and you can't be forced to work over your time but you will face the conduct code for failing to follow proper procedure.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

We have the same situation as well...hewittinspain wrote:Does your D.O have people doing afternoon packets? No packets left as we have 2 late drivers and 2 for the morning - one that usually does the hybrid + HCT packets and a another. This situation is helped because we have had people on long-term sick coming back. However, posties are still taking almost all their packets except a few cheeky ones that try to leave more than they should.
Specials and Tracked has to go as there is not enough PDAs...

Re: Cutting off
Surely nobody would expect a postie to carry undelivered bags of mail back to their respected offices should they decide to cut off?
If a manager wants you take everything out despite the fact you have told them you intend to cut off/work to your time...surely it is their job to bring undelivered mail/packets back ....not ours?

very strange response. you are supposed to return to the office after your delivery!

Re: Cutting off
If you get no answer when you phone them why don't you work to the "over running deliveries policy" and come back to the office to tell them?adamanti wrote:Lincox, have experienced the dead phone on a number of occasions as have others, so we also carry the reps number and if we have no answer from office/management we phone rep to let him know/or leave message on the answer phone as this is day/ time recorded. Ridiculous lengths to go to "cover " yourself, but it works.Lincox wrote:No one is suggesting it is wilful delay if you have followed the overrunning deliveries procedures to the letter (sorry the pun)
Inform manager before you go out. Leave any decision to him on whether you leave mail behind and the amount. Once out on delivery, the moment you know that you are unable to complete, call him and inform him that you will be bringing mail back. Job done, he can shout as long as he likes. Just inform him that he is delaying you getting on and you will be bringing more back. From experience the phone will go dead.
In fact why doesn't everyone do this?
Its not your policy its theirs. If this is what RM want, why are you unable to do it?
We cannot be conduct coded for working to their policies. Can we?
Confused... You won't be, after the next episode of. SOAP

Re: Cutting off
see the agreement re overruns . you either leave some or take all out and bring back what you cannot deliver. you need to let dom know either way before you leave. you just cannot bring back w/o having had this sanctioned before you leave

Not at every office - we still have duties which finish out on the street at last letter or pouch off. However full CDV and HCT deliveries of course will probably need to go back.
