Yes because that is exactly what we need - less people to do the same amount of work. So the "hard workers" have to work even harder.bakersdozen wrote:Whilst I understand I will be in a massive minority but I happen to think this could be a good thing. There are to many workers out to do as little as possible and if this leads to the slackers being got rid of then all the better for the vast majority of hard working staff.
I have been in the job over ten years and still enjoy it despite all the changes. To many people hark back to days long gone and refuse to accept change has to happen. What is needed is a concise plan to work together to get the best deal for staff and not to oppose it just because the cwu say to.
Lets celebrate eh! :/

How do you know that after 3 years everyone will have to reapply for their jobs and get lower pay? It just would not happen.

Oh boy here will go again with these threads that ONLY ever appear when a ballot is due.
I am not going to bother even mentioning how the job will be wrecked.
On a general note WHY does RM need Privitisation anyway when we make a good profit and are paying the government £82m a year while they can charge us 8% for borrowing money.
Just does not make real sense.

I'm not too sure how much RM pay the treasury each year but at that rate it would take about 36 years to pay the government the £3 Billion it will get when the company is floated.krussel wrote: On a general note WHY does RM need Privitisation anyway when we make a good profit and are paying the government £82m a year

If I rem right, the £82m is the interest on the loan...RobertT wrote:I'm not too sure how much RM pay the treasury each year but at that rate it would take about 36 years to pay the government the £3 Billion it will get when the company is floated.krussel wrote: On a general note WHY does RM need Privitisation anyway when we make a good profit and are paying the government £82m a year

Funnily enough, this should save Royal Mail a fortune - because it is currently paying interest to the BIS department of 8.8% a year, and should be able to pay interest of less than 5% to banks and other private sector lenders.
Last year Royal Mail's interest costs were £82m on drawn borrowings of £973m. So privatisation should save it perhaps £40m of interest payments per annum to the government.
Of course there is another way of looking at this - which is that the government, taxpayers, will be £82m a year poorer.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Crozier famously complained that we were 40% underworked and 25% overpaid, compared to the private operators. Do you really think that if we are privatised we won't be brought down to similar levels of pay and terms and conditions as the rest of the industry?RoyalSlave69 wrote:Looks like you are you miserable twit. Re: Privitisation. A good thing
RM at this moment are a government company and all profits get put back into RM, when the company is privatized it will be more of a money making venture to pay out dividend's to all share holders on a yearly basis.RoyalSlave69 wrote:Looks like you are you miserable twit. the major shareholders will get greedy and after the 3 year period that RM have offered us they will then force us all to re-apply for our jobs with different T' & C's inc wages, this will make more money for the major shareholders as the wage bill etc will be lower meaning larger profits.
there is it is laymans terms, and please don't think that it will not happen this way, just look at the Gas, Electric and water companies. Prices forever going up and more and more profit's for the major shareholders year on year.
